No, I'm aware it's not so black and white. Even back home, there are some controversial issues regarding villains and heroes, but even then that's why rules exist. If a pirate is simply 'someone who steals', then how does this affect the rest who don't? What makes the fact that they go on adventures illegal?

[That's the part she doesn't get. Was it because pirates, even as adventurers, trespass international borders? Is it because they take the law in their own hands?]

So, you're somewhat more like a secret agent to take down the corrupt officials? Or are you an investigator?

[She's curious, and this was... a really deep topic when they're talking about hats, but curiosity is not easy to satisfy.]
