SUMMARY: lance organized a snowball tag event and now everyone can hate him for it

[ the time has come. the day you have all been waiting for. today... we dine in snow hell heck.

or so you've been promised, anyway. whether you believe it or not, whether you decide to make the most of it or not, today is team audentes' annual (that's right, it's tradition now) game of SNOWBALL TAG! teams have been assigned, messaged, and given their team ribbons*. all were told to meet at their designated spots to go over battle plans, practice the team motto/battle cry, or just generally try and get a good idea of who you probably shouldn't be aiming for. the battle begins at high noon (shout out to mccree i love you bruh) and ends when there is only one team left standing...

the rules are as follows!! ]

1. no biting, eye-gouging, fish-hooking
2. no aiming below the belt
3. only hits to count are those that land in the torso region, front or back
4. three hits and you're out
5. seriously you're out WE'RE GOING BY AN HONOR SYSTEM OKAY
6. no cheating!
7. but feel free to make use of the terrain
8. battle grounds stretch from the lake to the forest and all around the exterior of the castle area
9. "friendly fire" totally counts so make sure you know who you're aiming for

[ It's not possible to maintain annoyance in the face of such genuine good humor. McCree is disarming. (Har har) Shiro spits a mouthful of snow out, coughs, then chuckles. ]

I've survived worse.

I've already been mistaken for a participant a few times. I should make myself a sign.

[ It's a roundabout way of claiming blame. An honest mistake, one that Shiro could have averted, isn't something McCree needs to fret over. ]

[ Shiro is just too nice. McCree claps an arm--the good one--'round his shoulders. ]

Or you could join in, official-like. C'mon, we're having a grand old time out here.

[ He nudges Shiro, winking. ]

[ It looks like a good time. Well, mostly. It also looks like some people are taking things too seriously (Keith) but what else is new? ]

I don't think Lance would appreciate me or my arm giving any one team an unfair advantage.

[ Which is just an fancy excuse to keep on benchwarming. If that's even what you can call it when the temperature is so low and Shiro has snow melting in the collar of his jacket. ]

Besides, I like to save my good arm for the wrestling contests.

Gotta tell you, partner. That's a dangerous enterprise with this bunch.

[ He flexes his metal arm, wincing slightly at a sudden memory. ]

I challenged that one fella--the Greek guy, the one from the poems--and it turned out to be a pretty bad day. Throwin' some snow around is much easier on the ol' muscles.

That Greek guy takes everything too seriously.

[ Says Shiro, the man who takes everything semi-seriously. But he's assuming McCree is talking about Achilles, and Shiro's still irritated with him for threatening Koltira. ]

He's not playing today, is he?

[ Shiro sounds suddenly alarmed at the idea of that. ]

Ain't seen him.

[ He cocks his head to one side slightly, his expression appraising. He likes Achilles fine; the man seems to have a bit of a temper, but that's par for the course in this lot. Or so he's observed. ]

You're lookin' mighty spooked. Something happen between you two?

[racking]

He has a problem with a friend of mine.

[ This probably isn't hard to believe. Even in Shiro's brief interactions with Achilles, he's noticed a particular trend. He's a difficult man to get along with. Shiro would be more inclined towards generosity if he hadn't targeted Koltira. ]

I don't know very much about him, but he seems like a liability.

[ Shiro would literally never say this is Keith were in earshot, but bouncing concerns off McCree is another story. ]

He does strike me as the intense type.

[ McCree keeps his tone mild. He's not unaware--he saw that whole thing with Koltira, starting from way back when Hanzo first got up in arms about it. He'd calmed Hanzo down, but Achilles seemed to have plenty of opposition already. So he just shrugs. ]

Lotta folks on this team got themselves a bit of a temper, though.
