[Joseph grits his teeth. He doesn't have the time to process that vines shouldn't be appearing out of nowhere between focusing on where he's running and the fact there are thorns now digging into his skin.]

[He lets out an aggravated, exasperated growl.]
[This is going to hurt. Joseph's probably going to regret doing this later most likely, but he twists his arm to get a hand around the length of vine between himself as the boy chasing after him. Uninterested in being slowed down any further than he already has, he tugs the vine forward with the intention of getting the kid behind him off-balance enough that he can catch him with that arm and get him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. If he can't keep up, Joseph will do enough running for the three of them.]
