( it's probably wise not to trust the reaction. even if it is genuine — that had hurt enough for him to recoil, enough for Keith to sneak away. that doesn't mean he won't reach out again, that he won't keep fighting, that he won't do damage or worse if Keith risks getting close again. instead of chasing, though, he hunkers low, shying toward the injured side and making it less of a target.
the dark glare Keith gets has nothing to do with his words, yet the obvious retreat of what could have been a meal. if the spider has it in him to chase, he doesn't seem to be trying... it would probably be wise to get away while the opportunity is there.
