It's fine. It sounds strange when it's all laid out like that. A marriage is... you consider it a contract, of sorts. A promise of faithfulness between two parties and the merger of their households. It can be dissolved in a divorce, but in the part of the world I'm from it's very frowned upon.

A woman whose husband has died is called a "widow" and a man whose wife has died is a "widower". And it... depends. There's an expected period of mourning no matter how old you are, but older people often don't remarry if their partner dies.
