giovanni; i am the GOAT
Still, he's sure that the shift in attire isn't as drastic as Giovanni's. Every time he's seen him, he's been in the finest suit available to whatever mission they'd been deployed on... that's not an option here, where everything's as foreign as can be, even beginning with the team they're working with. That in itself is concerning. He recalls Giovanni's unhinged bloodlust even in training, too familiar to the carnage of home for any degree of his own comfort; loyal as he'd been to Audentes, what was he to do now?
Hell if he knows. Hell if he knows whether bringing him along on something like this will even help-- at the very least, Giovanni will be more than enough backup to ensure that the ogres won't harm the goats or either of them. Jin glances over his shoulder at Giovanni as they draw nearer to the mouth of the cave.]
So. What's our plan?

So here he is. And here she is: a near stranger, but one of Ophelia's... and possibly more importantly, formerly one of Audentes'.]
I never had pets. [is his first admission, sheepish as a baby raptor perches on his shoulder. It's going after his long, black hair: Jin winces, shaking the bird off] My parents wouldn't let 'em in the house.
Please tell me you can handle birds as well as wolves.

He called out to Jin somewhere in the the commoner's quarter under this very premise. ]
Hey. Turn up anythin' good?

And more than that, the situation feels strange, somewhat surreal, and it has little to do with the new world they've found themselves thrown into. More, instead, the new situation, something known but unknown, the same but different. Still world-hopping, still working within a team, but Audentes no longer exists and the fragile sense of certainty - of unity - he'd just begun to feel has come into question once more. He'd chosen this, and without so much as an incentive to tie him down, having come to the decision to turn his back on his old and dark existence, to make a go of this one instead, but-- but. It feels strange and strained and dissociated, to be plunged once again into something different and unfamiliar.
Strained...just like Giovanni's tight expression when Jin glances back at him, the edges of his irritation showing around what is more often than not a blank and impassive mask. But Jin's question comes, and the warhound manufactures a smile, just for him.]
A quick, clean dispatch of course. And when I say clean, I may be exaggerating.
[Messy and blood-drenched is what he means.]

[Jin hadn't exactly gotten much time with Majima the last time they'd run into each other-- it'd been cordial but distant, simply seeing as there were so many people in their group-- but when he's flagged down, he's eager to join back up with him. He's got a decent head on his shoulders as far as Jin's concerned, and their job's far from over here.]
You got any ideas of where to hunt down intel next? I'm hearing rumors on the jewelcomms that this was some sort of setup.

Right, and it sounds like there're a couple more from that last group still loose. But let's not do this here.
[ Instead, he'd indicate a little bar down the street, where he'd had drinks with Oliver the other day. ]
Let's try that pub. The snacks aren't the best, but no one looked twice at two men gettin' drinks unaccompanied the other day.

Shit.]

not after the alastair christmas party circa 2016.He glances, uncertain, over at the pub in question.]
If buying their booze'll get them to give us some kind of insight... you can handle it, right? I can try to fake it, but the sober thing is kind of non-negotiable.

Huh. ]
As long as we fork over enough for two people, I don't think it'll be a problem. Don't want people to think we're loiterin', is all.
[ Especially since they seemed a little jump after... you know, the festival. That. ]

[ zokla finishes scrubbing a perch, and glances outside. she cannot see nymeria, but she knows the direwolf is nearby. nymeria does not leave her. she knows it as certain as she knows her hands are hers, as she knows the warmth that spreads through her chest when nymeria noses her again. a hundred years ago she pushed nymeria away. she threw rocks and shouted until the direwolf stopped following. and still nymeria won't leave her.
nymeria is the only one who comes back.
turning back, she snickers quietly at the sight jin makes. he could have been an armorer in another life with those arms. a fast enough whack and he could knock any of these falcons to the ground. and here he is shrinking away from a bird no bigger than his hand. taking pity, she motions for him to bend down so she can reach the chick. ]

[He gestures with a nod of his head at the pub and heads over... without waiting to see if Majima's following him first. Try to keep up, dude.]

Majima would follow him in and take a seat with his back to the door, as was polite. Hopefully, Jin could be counted on to keep an eye out for trouble. The waiter came by, smiled, asked if they wanted to hear the specials.
Majima shook his head and ordered sake instead. It was only after he left that Majima turned back to Jin. ]
This keeps up, those ladies won't be the only ones we have to worry about.
[ Vague enough and casual enough not to invite anyone to pay special attention. ]
