D’s dark eyes quickly look Alucard over clinically. He isn’t sure why he is surprised by the recovery when he knows Alucard is a dhampir. Somehow, he’s glad for Alucard’s well-being, and he almost feels bad for being so distant when Alucard’s eyes are young and hopeful about his presence.
