EVENT ★ WELCOME TO LERAMZEN
WELCOME TO LERAMZEN ![]() After nearly three weeks of "relaxation" in Oska, Audentes is given 48 hours to prepare for their next mission. Right on time, they are rifted to a different dimension, landing them in the futuristic city of Leramzen. Instead of appearing in a large group, recruits are spread throughout the city center so as not to draw attention to themselves, arriving in isolated areas: behind buildings hidden from the street, in public restrooms, stepping into the street from behind parked cars. The key is to blend in, though the metropolitan nature of Leramzen allows for some wiggle room; the locals see enough country bumpkins from all over the galaxy that they're willing to overlook a faux pas here or there from an obvious tourist. Recruits have two weeks before the day of the museum heist. During this time, they should contact their mission analyst, George, but the rest is up to them -- a perfect time to explore the luxuries that Leramzen has to offer. CITY LIFE ![]() The generous stipend will more than allow recruits to take in the sights and treat themselves to a luxury meal or two, but of particular interest should be the clothing and jewelry stores found in the city center. There are shops that cater to any style and taste, including a few bespoke tailors that have a convenient turnaround time of two weeks. In addition to shopping and cultural pursuits, there is an ice rink in the city center, maintained for the long winter season, and horse-drawn carriages that will take passengers on a ride through Leramzen's historic Old Town. This is also a good chance to observe the State History Museum to get a lay of the land before the mission begins. But remember -- don't draw attention to yourselves, so going in all together might not be a good idea. Settle in and take in some sights, and get ready -- because when the mission begins, you never know what you'll be in for. OOC NOTES Welcome to the new mission! Heist sign-ups are now closed for current players, but all characters accepted after May 21st will still have the opportunity to sign up. For more information on the mission, please check the dossier and direct all questions about Leramzen to this thread. Questions about the game in general should be directed to the FAQ and you may submit mission ideas or player plots at any time. |

Asher is not someone she expected to see seriously looking at the museum exhibits, but she supposes that is her fault for assuming. Sieglinde isn't the most skilled at subterfuge, but she supposes she should ignore the man- just in case. And she does plan to do so, walking carefully unescorted even by her familiar so as not to draw undo attention.
But she can't help be curious to here his analysis of an artifact, and though she knows perhaps it isn't the best idea... she can't help but slowly gravitate that way, straining to see what it is before she gives up and speaks.
People speak to strangers in museums, right? Right? She has never been to one ever, so she has no idea.]
Something odd?
["Unknown", was it?]
no subject
Oh, uh.
Kinda.
[He gestures at that plaque he'd been looking at, face stricken with genuine curiosity.]
It seems like they're super tight-assed about this whole info gathering thing? Like, all of this stuff's been labeled to the T, fam. Look at these dates! They don't just have years written down, they've got estimates about what day of the month this crap was forged or whatever.
That's crazy.
[Beyond the scope of his own world's technology. Then again, the dossier did say that Leramzen was pretty advanced.]
And then there's barely anything on this one.
no subject
That is indeed incongruous with the rest of this exhibit... you would not think an institution such as this would display something they knew so little about.
[Next she casts about for any nearby plaques, growing somewhat curious herself.]
Do they have any theories or speculations written anywhere- ?
no subject
Once again, his face scrunches up, even moreso now.]
No.
They just listed the materials it's made out of.
[Investigation is one of the few things he knows how to do properly. A skill vastly underused until now, save for a brief stint in Woodhurst.
Asher has learned in the hardest of ways that the absence of information can be just as telling as the presence of it, and so he saunters over to a nearby artifact, now taking pause to see whether or not the substances that created this far more primitive tool are one and the same.
They aren't.]
Oh god.

Sieglinde's first impressions of Asher had not been the kindest- she'd considered him a blustering and somewhat arrogant and perverse buffoon. Naturally, over time, she had reconsidered her assessment, but it's still somewhat new to see him actually so excited about... figuring something out?]
"Oh god" what?
[But she can't even figure out if he's just being dramatic or actually found something, gathering up her skirts to toddle over quickly and look for herself.]
no subject
The diamond had been stolen from another planet, one far less advanced, less fortunate. He can't help but wonder if this beautiful thing was stolen too somewhere along the way, placed in a museum for the enjoyment of the extravagantly wealthy.
Asher's rather trite discovery is nothing that shouldn't have expected already, if the people of Leramzen had stolen once, it is likely that they had stolen before. It's just that it's like watching a memory in reverse, because of his own disgusting history, so to speak. The Millstones have a lot of family traditions, like screwing the poor.
Is this the only way to make money?]
Uh, it's nothing.
[He searches the room again with his eyes, neglecting the artifacts. If there are security cameras in his own world, there are certainly bound to be cameras here, although he can't see them.
Damn the future.]
Did you wanna go outside or... Did you wanna look around a little bit more?
[Asher is being subtle, avoiding suspicion. What he really means is that they should go outside to talk, but...
He already fucked up. The past five minutes have definitely been caught on tape.]
no subject
Did he want her to follow him out or refuse and go their separate ways as if they had only interacted briefly as fellow museum goers?
Thankfully, Sieglinde's network device is the emerald brooch she wears on her chatelaine, and it's easy to palm without looking odd.]
Which one is it you wish me to pick exactly?
[Shows up in his inbox literally a second later, even as verbally she wavers.]
Hmm...
no subject
A cacophony of familiar voices in his head accompanies oddly uncomfortable churning in his belly, both familiar now. His self-confidence has taken such a deep dive since the first day he stepped foot on Zeta-12, still fresh out of school and eager to prove himself.
He still, very badly, wants to believe that he has something to prove.
Asher's eyes meet hers as he squints, surprised that she has yet to deduce the same.]
um girl idk about chu but im outtie 5000 b4 the popo snatches us up lol
i'll tell u the deets when were aren't somewhere with a million cameras, probably
[His words convey a different story entirely. To lend some support to them, he tugs at his own collar, fanning himself with his free hand.]
It's gettin' kinda stuffy in here, so...
I'm gonna head out.
You comin'?
no subject
She also has yet to master Asher's... particular brand of slang. It takes her a moment.]
We did not come in together, so would it not be strange if we met just now and left together? If we are being watched, I should continue on.
[To try and act it out, she gives a vague shrug.]
I have not finished looking yet- but do have a good day, sir.
[They didn't know each other, right? Thinking she's doing this correctly, Sieglinde gives him a small dip of a curtsy.]
no subject
Asher isn't angry, as it's hard to feel that way when the person standing in front of you is still a child, however extensive her vocabulary may be, but there it is again, that one lingering feeling that seems to ruin everything.
Doubt.]
right
you're right
[He bows in her direction too, imitating her movements.
Hesitation has wormed its way into his features, from the slight arch of his brows to the slow manner in which he rises back up again.]
See ya.
