INTRODUCTION. It's difficult to tell time without the presence of a sun or moon. There are no stars. The world is in constant blackness, the heavens barely visible from below and the only light artificial. It's been like this for months. Get your shit and go look at the sky. Now's the time. If you need me, I'm around. It's time to get to work. OBSERVATION. Find the highest point you can and point the telescopes at the sky. Should be easy, right? |

[ Gasp. Gintoki actually giving a shit. You know, though, he actually usually does. He gives a big shit. And as a freelancer, he knows what it is like to be given instructions and tasks to do. Sometimes he goes about them his own way (usually he does), but this one has left him scratching his head.
He'll comply, for now, then maybe go from there. ]
So whatever. There's always a solution. Find the other solution, you dicksack kicking moron.

I never said I wanted to find a solution, idiot~. Stop making dumbass assumptions. You just sound progressively stupid every time you open your mouuuuth~.
[He flicked a wad of earwax aside.]
I'm no good on a mission unless it's a fiiiight. So, I won't bother with this nonsense. You can have fun with it, yourself~.

You look progressively stupid every time I look at you.
[ I mean.. not even Gintoki is this apathetic. ]
Oi. Do you even care about anything?
[ he knows the answer, considering this guy doesn't even care about his well being. ]

Ban craned his neck, beginning to pull himself up to stand.]
Sounds reasonable to assume everybody cares about something.
[With a flick of his wrist, Ban was holding a cloak, which he threw over Gintoki. It was just as clear to him that Gintoki would want to spit on it or throw it away just as quickly as it was tossed at him, but he thought about one person in particular who was worried about that man.
He wasn't answering his question at all, but Ban wasn't the sort to mention his real thoughts to just anyone.]
Course, for you-- It'd be better to say that what you care about doesn't matter~. What matters is who cares about you, right?
Somethin' tells me it's the only thing you'd let help you make decisions.
[He did remember, at that time, the intensity in Gintoki's eyes in those moments. It was a rare glimpse into the eyes of someone who had the capacity to put the entirety of himself into something. It might have been why he didn't recognize him before.
He just looked different.]

Hey— what's your deal? Are you in heat or something? [ you're sending mixed signals, Ban. Please stop.
There's a grumble. In a way, Ban is right, but he's not going to so easily admit to that with somebody like him. ]
I'm the only person responsible for my own decisions.
[ —never mind is revolves around the people he cares about. ]

[When one was alone, the concept of making bad decisions was far from a speculative nightmare--it was a painful reality. Ban knew better, but made terrible decisions on a regular basis, because he didn't allow anyone to become that close to him.
It was easy to see a bit of that in Gintoki, when he toyed with Alice in the jail. Ban had no clue whether or not to respect or simply envy that need for restraint.]
In any case, I know for a fact that at least one of your pals is more than worth their salt.
[Giving Gintoki a shrug, Ban hopped down from their vantage point--a fair ways down. As he fell, his voice followed in an echo.]
Cause, I know you're a sooooftiiiiie~.

[ ?????????
My god. Why does this guy even talk? It's a it too late, though, and granted he is too lazy to chase after him but fine. Next time he'll kick your ass just from looking at you.
Because Ban is right about him, and when Ban is right about something, it makes him angry. ]
