PLAYER EVENT ★ HELIOLOGY

INTRODUCTION.

It's difficult to tell time without the presence of a sun or moon. There are no stars. The world is in constant blackness, the heavens barely visible from below and the only light artificial. It's been like this for months.

Suddenly, those who expressed interest in observing the sun (or lack thereof) will all at once receive a text message on their ALASTAIR jewellery from 82736775:

Get your shit and go look at the sky. Now's the time. If you need me, I'm around.
It's time to get to work.

OBSERVATION.

Find the highest point you can and point the telescopes at the sky. Should be easy, right?

Be mindful that there are still guards patrolling the city, looking for escaped prisoners, and some citizens would be very happy to tip them off to your presence. There are still animals in the forests to contend with, and there are still nosey citizens who may ask you too many questions. There are also your fellow ALASTAIR agents, who may not be very willing to share the spot they already staked out before you just showed up.

People and animals aren't all you need to look out for, either. Seven hours after the observation starts, there is a lightning storm. It lasts for 30 minutes, bolts of electricity arcing across the sky. It might be a good idea to scurry down someplace lower when this happens -- you know what they say about lightning and height.

82736775 doesn't contact anyone after the initial text, so observers are free to give up whenever they decide they've been sitting out in the freezing dark for long enough.

[ note: even if you didn't sign up, feel free to tag in! your character won't have a telescope but that doesn't mean they can't mingle. ]

No. We can't force you. But it's still pretty lazy to let everyone else do all the work!

[Ban come on. You are being scolded by an eleven year old. Sakura considers for a moment, straightening up and readjusting her telescope.]

How about you help me then? We can take turns looking through the telescope and you tell me what you see?
perma_banned: (bored while evil)

[There were times when Ban could scarcely be won over by the people he liked, but Sakura had one strength to his. He wondered if he could really be mean to her like everyone else.

It wasn't worth wondering. Ban gave her another ruffle in her hair, smiling wearily.]

Sure. I'll give it a shot.

[He was a stone in a river, worn down by running water over many years, but--Sakura just skipped happily over him.]
keystaff: (Oh really?)

[personal profile] keystaff 2016-02-08 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Sakura tries and fails to dodge, given they are both still on her staff and she therefore has much less maneuverability in comparison to if she were on the ground.

She hastens to attempt to straighten her hair, before passing him the telescope and attempting to get back to her notes, finishing her sentence he had interrupted her in.]

Okay, so just. Tell me what you see.
perma_banned: (i suggest we buy more leather)

[personal profile] perma_banned 2016-02-11 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm~. [Admittedly, maneuvering to look through the telescope was tough. Usually, it was meant to be positioned on the ground, but there was no footing for that.

...So, he lifted the whole thing to his face and looked that way.]

Looks like a whooole lotta darkness.
keystaff: (I'm sure the moon will keep spinning too)

[personal profile] keystaff 2016-02-12 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
A...oh, let me look then!

[Because there has to be....something. Else why were they asked to try help and get a better look for answers on what happened to the sky, how to fix this?]
perma_banned: (Default)

[personal profile] perma_banned 2016-02-14 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
C'moooon. You'll get sick, hangin' out in the cold, tryin' to get a better look on darkness~.

[He could at least try to guilt her into retreating...]
keystaff: (In you and me)

[personal profile] keystaff 2016-02-14 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Sick, you think so? I thought I'd be warm enough in this....

[But then. Maybe Ban is right. It is getting rather late, from what she can figure and vaguely tell from the clocktower in the distance.]

Did you want me to take you back down? Where are you staying?
perma_banned: (flowers)

[personal profile] perma_banned 2016-02-14 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I can get back to the ground myself, no problem~. I'll sleep just about anywhere.

[For the most part, he wouldn't break his legs even at that height--not that he had to tell Sakura that, lest he inspire a very normal worry in her.]

Next time, bring leggings.
keystaff: (So help)

[personal profile] keystaff 2016-02-15 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Okay then! Just -- just be careful!

[She's more worried about him getting down than anything else, but she does note the leggings advice. She's still in the process of gathering more clothes around here since she only arrived in one of the costumes Tomoyo had made for her. It's a work in progress, and it's hard to be sure what exactly to focus on with the weather, going to different worlds and all.

But she gives a nod of agreement, waiting for a moment for him before she would then head back down herself among the trees back to the clearing where she's camping with Graham.]
perma_banned: (that's my fetish)

[personal profile] perma_banned 2016-02-18 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
[With a whistle, Ban jumped off of the broom, giving Sakura an easy little wave.]

Don't stay up laaaaate~.
