CHARACTERS: Bolin and Hideyoshi

SUMMARY: Bolin and Hideyoshi are useless, this log is useless.

[ Having established something of a friendship between the two of them, Bolin is considerably less sulky than he'd expected himself to be as he waits outside the inn for the blonde. It's a bit colder than usual, even with Pabu stuffed into his jacket for added warmth, but the earthbender remains upbeat. The prospect of food can motivate him to great lengths when he's particularly hungry.

Especially since it's not coming out of his pocket. He's not going to meanly take advantage of Hideyoshi's offer, but he's definitely going to enjoy himself. It's going to be fun, because if Hideyoshi seemed a little loony when Bolin first met him, he's seems like a pretty nice guy.

Tendency to be a real jerk aside.

He huffs out a breath again in an attempt to warm the air around them, digging his nose further into his scarf to whine, ] It's cold.

[having established something of a friendship between the two of them, Hideyoshi is considerably impressed at how quickly food won Bolin over from the disaster of their first meeting. the blond didn't fancy the idea he'd left someone he'd cross again mad at him-- it was a fact of life some people didn't click, but where it was avoidable, he'd always thought it better to keep a decent rapport.]

[apparently, food made it possible with the tall, bulky guy at his side.]

[Hideyoshi had the foresight to only bring a portion of his savings, but it was still more than enough for a buffet at the pastry shop. time to see how much the other could pack away.]

You could say that again... [hands shoved deep into his pockets to keep warm, the tropical climate kid shivered within his many layers.] The shop's just down the street, though. Bet they'll have a roaring fire to keep us warm. --- You wouldn't mind eating some at the place, would you?

It's fine with me.

[ As much as Bolin dislikes ghosts and all manner of supernatural creatures, he actually hadn't been bothered by the goblins once he'd arrived in Chantes. It would be pretty easy to think of them along the same lines as monsters, but from the beginning Bolin had approached them with the understanding that they were no different from humans save for their appearance.

There's no reason to be scared of some different-looking humans. They're not like ghosts that stuck around to haunt and torture people.

His face buries deeper into his scarf, Pabu's little muzzle nuzzling the underside of his chin. ]

Even if they don't have a fire, [ he continues, walking alongside Hideyoshi, ] it's probably warm from all the baking.

Yeah. It'll be warm, and it'll smell delicious.

[he could drift off into day-dreaming just thinking about it. but why keep something so marvelous to the dreamscape-- they'd reached the wooden building, the smell of baked goods flowing down-wind and brightening Hideyoshi's spirits. the holiday time had been crazy busy, and before that, he'd needed to scope out Chantes' land; all in all, with things finally seeming to calm down, this was a great reprieve with a great man.]

[pulling open and holding the door for Bolin with a happy bounce in his step, their mutual cheer over good-smelling food combining into something grand.]

[ Bolin has no problem stepping into the shop ahead of Hideyoshi, eyes lighting up and Pabu poking his head out from inside his jacket curiously, now that the threat of the cold is gone, and the promise of food is imminent. The gentleman that he is, Bolin doesn't even glance back at the blonde as his focus shifts to the display of goods on sale. It's still relatively early in the morning that selection is aplenty, and the aromas are fresh.

His skin burns a little at the contrast, having been so cold earlier, but he doesn't even notice, peering intently instead at the array of treats; ranging from breads to elaborate treats and meals. While Bolin will eat pretty much anything, he doesn't really care for dainty tarts, and his heart finds itself drawn to the more savoury selections, breads and pastry paired with vegetables and meat. ]

Damn. [ He finally remembers his companion, turning to him with excitement! ] Everything looks great!

[all the better that Bolin doesn't pay him any mind. the blond settles comfortably a step behind the enthusiastic kid in a candy-slash-bakery shop with ease, his thumbs hooking into his pants' pockets. the door swings shut behind them, the cold dissipating quickly in the bakery's brazing heat--- and damn, but it really did smell delicious.]

[Hideyoshi meets excitement with pure happiness, his amusement obvious and louder than the goblin shop keeper chirping a welcome! from the counter.]

Right? Told you. [... though... peering at what Bolin gravitated toward (his amusement growing),] I've never tried the ones with vegetables or meat before - I usually stick to the jams.

I suppose we could start with two each and eat on from there.
