CHARACTERS: Peridot, Pearl, and OPEN!
DATE: After Oska-sim, before the Team-Bonding tasks event
WARNINGS: Robotic dismemberment, maybe.
SUMMARY: Robot fights??? Robot fights.
• BEFORE THE FIGHT •
[Now that Oska has been "fixed"… it's about time to mess it up again. At least in a contained way that doesn't involve any "false realities." Two large, pilot-able robots stand opposite each other in a large ring, circled off with linked rope and poles.
One robot is a bright green color, diamond shaped with claw-like hands, and shorter than the other robot. The second robot is tall, smoother looking, with longer "legs" and pastel colored.
Both are unoccupied… for now, but outside of the ring is a crudely, and almost lazily painted sign with the words: ]
BUY TICKETS HERE
[…Someone's selling tickets to this??
Maybe someone else is nearby who can answer some questions… Or maybe also has no idea what's about to happen, but hey, feel free to look around anyway. ]
• THE FIGHT •
[A. - Closed to Peridot and Pearl]
[Now that the tickets have been sold, both Gems arrive at the arena.
After inspecting the area marked for their fight, and then inspecting her own robot to make sure Pearl hadn't tried to CHEAT while she was away, Peridot climbs into her own robot, testing the controls. It works just as well as it did when she first assembled it, so everything seems fine. As Pearl climbs into her own robot, Peridot calls out a taunt.]
I HOPE YOU'RE READY TO PRACTICE BOWING AGAIN, RENEGADE SCUM!!
[B. - Open To All]
[Oh, so that's why those giant robots were there. An old fashioned showdown, This Town Isn't Big Enough For The Both Of Us-style... But no guns and quick drawing, and with robots instead? Seems like it. Feel free to watch, and maybe wind up dodging some torn up dirt as the fight processes.]

[ And that's as good as a "go ahead" right? Because that's what Peridot's taking this as, charging straight at Pearl's robot with the intent to body slam her. ]
no subject
She pushes back against her, eyes narrowing.]
You have got to get rid of that Homeworld mentality! It'll be your downfall!
no subject
The only one who will be falling-
[Peridot grabs the sides of Pearl's robot, pushing back to gain enough momentum to grab the other gem's robot as a whole and toss her into the air. ]
-will be you!!
no subject
She falls back down just as fast, but she lands rather gracefully, on one robot foot even.
On the top of Peridot's robot head.]
no subject
A deep metallic clank rings out as Pearlbot lands directly on her, sending her and her robot face first into the ground. Peribot was thankfully built for being sturdy and able to take hits like this, but it doesn't take away the hurt of being outmaneuvered like this.
Growling in displeasure, Peridot's robot reached up over its head, blindly grabbing around for Pearlbot's leg in hope to grab it and fling her off elsewhere. ]
no subject
She's satisfied for a brief moment, having bested the homeworld gem before being flung once more. Pearl bot lands on it's back, skidding across the ground with a grunt from it's pilot. Pursing her lips, Pearl makes her robot stand right back up again, rushing doen Peribot. Pearlbot brings a hand back, aiming to punch the other robot in the 'face'.]
no subject
THIS is why you're inferior! So what if you could build this? You don't know how to even use it right! You don't think or plan! You're just- stupid!! Like every other Pearl!!
Prove to me you're different! Or don't expect me to respect you!!
no subject
Pearl wrenches one eye open, her robot shuddering as it fights to push forward. Pearl swallows thickly.]
There's more to being a Gem than just raw strength! [She yells back at her over screeching wheels.]
I belong to no one, nor will I ever again! I will never bow to the likes of you or any Homeworld Gem who thinks of me as "just a Pearl"! I might not be the strongest Gem out there, but I will always stand back up and fight for what I believe in, no matter the odds!!
[Gritting her teeth, the Pearlbot swings its other hand for a second attempt punch.]
no subject
All you're proving to me- is that you're weak!! BIG TALK! If you want to stand up against a Homeworld Gem, you NEED raw strength!! You can't win a fight against someone who's better than you if you're not strong enough!! You will LOSE!
no subject
She bristles, despite her robot shuddering and struggling against the claws holding it hostage, metal tubing threatening to rip open. One tug would probably do the trick at this point.]
Funny, coming from a coward who lets a Jasper do all the dirty work for her and runs away when the odds are against them!
[And she takes in a deep breath.] And tell me, have you ever seen "just a Pearl" do this?!
[In the next instant, Pearl brings one of her own fists back, aiming to uppercut the green Gem, right in the jaw.]

AND SHE'S DOWN!! PEARL CENA DOES IT AGAIN!!!!!][That is to say, Peridot didn't expect that. Pearls don't punch. Of course, she's seen this Pearl use a weapon as well, which Pearls also don't do.
So, a running tally:
This Pearl, the Crystal Gem, has:
1. Summoned a weapon.
2. Spoke badly of Homeworld, and continues a noted disdain for the planet.
3. Hates Homeworld Gems.
4. Actively acts as an individual.
5. Openly accepts fusion.
6. Built an, admittedly, decent robot.
7. Just punched her, in the face, completely going against any shred of Gem hierarchy.
Pearl is different. This Pearl is different. That much as been proven. Peridot is stubborn...
But she doesn't ignore the truth, when it's so obviously presented in front of her. ]

Stumbling and reeling from the hit, Peridot feels her cheek begin to swell up, and in a fit of anger, pulls the Pearlbot arms she has in her grip. The seams of metal and wire, already stressed from the pressure, now tear and eventually, both arms come off. Peridot rubs at her mouth with the back of her limb extender, and her Peribot tosses the now removed limbs to the side.]
No, I haven't. And I've never seen a Pearl fight in a robot without arms either!!
no subject
The Pearlbot bends its legs before it springs upward into the air.]
I don't need arms to kick your butt!
[The Gem shouts as she comes falling back down, foot extended to strike the Peribot.]

Peridot doesn't go easy on her. ]

However, she says nothing. No gloating victory, no demands for praise. Just silence coming from the green Gem.]

Essentially, her robot is rendered useless. The legs broken and battered, the controls crushed. Pearl manages to crawl out of the remains of the Pearlbot. Scratched up, and with more than a few bruises from the thrashing, the Crystal Gem still manages to get onto her feet, shaking as she does so.
Pearl winces, holding her arm but stands defensively, with knees bent. She still looks defiant, despite the conditions of the fight. She steals a glance back at what was once a functioning piece of machinery. Now in pieces. Decommissioned.]
So that's it then. [She stands a little taller, jaw set, chin held high.]
Treat me how you want, but I still won't back down from any snide comments you might have at me. [She almost snarls.]
I will never bow to any homeworld gem.
no subject
I knew you wouldn't actually follow through with what we agreed on. Any respectable Gem would acknowledge defeat when they lost. Once a rebel, always a rebel...
But you did prove to me, at the very least, you're an... abnormal Pearl.
So I'll let your completely graceless disregard for our earlier rules slide.
no subject
I'll take "abnormal" over "just".
[The Gem closes her eyes with a soft sigh, lowering it slightly.]
And I will admit. Your robot was far better than I expected. Your craftsmanship is impeccable to say the least. I was... impressed.
no subject
[ Was this...
The first compliment Pearl paid to her? And admitting that she was impressed, as well?? ]
Well I am a technician-class Gem. It'd be pathetic if I couldn't build something decent.
I am reluctant to admit... although it had a lot of obvious weak points, had this been a race or something that required speed above strength, you would have won. But for a Pearl-
...
Yours wasn't bad either.
no subject
Pearl loosely curls her fingers into fists, letting them hang at her sides before she lifts her head with a small smile.]
However. You won fair and square when it came to robots vs. robot.
Congratulations, Peridot.
no subject
D... Don't think this means anything different between us! This is... a truce, at best!
no subject
[She considers it for a moment as she starts to feel the pain from being thrashed around like that finally set in. She steps around some debris, wincing.]
Fine. A truce. Just as long as you don't use that robot of yours for any sort of destruction, a truce will be.. ngh, in order.
no subject
[ Chaos, maybe. Destruction, not... intentionally. ]
...
[ Peridot finally leaps out of her robot, looking it over, the dents, scratches... but overall, it still held up well. ]
Maybe if you... ask nicely, I'll repair yours.
no subject
I'd like that. Maybe I could learn a few pointers about robot construction.
[After all, Pearl had been away from Homeworld for thousands of years. She's sure to have missed out on plenty of technological advances. Don't even get her started on human technology. Pearl's still trying to catch up there even.
She nudges one of the torn arms with a foot, sighing heavily.]
I'll take care of the mess.
