CHARACTERS: Peridot, Pearl, and OPEN!

DATE: After Oska-sim, before the Team-Bonding tasks event

WARNINGS: Robotic dismemberment, maybe.

SUMMARY: Robot fights??? Robot fights.

• BEFORE THE FIGHT •

[Now that Oska has been "fixed"… it's about time to mess it up again. At least in a contained way that doesn't involve any "false realities." Two large, pilot-able robots stand opposite each other in a large ring, circled off with linked rope and poles.

One robot is a bright green color, diamond shaped with claw-like hands, and shorter than the other robot. The second robot is tall, smoother looking, with longer "legs" and pastel colored.

Both are unoccupied… for now, but outside of the ring is a crudely, and almost lazily painted sign with the words: ]

[…Someone's selling tickets to this??

Maybe someone else is nearby who can answer some questions… Or maybe also has no idea what's about to happen, but hey, feel free to look around anyway. ]

• THE FIGHT •

[A. - Closed to Peridot and Pearl]

[~~Now that the tickets have been sold~~, both Gems arrive at the arena.

After inspecting the area marked for their fight, and then inspecting her own robot to make sure Pearl hadn't tried to CHEAT while she was away, Peridot climbs into her own robot, testing the controls. It works just as well as it did when she first assembled it, so everything seems fine. As Pearl climbs into her own robot, Peridot calls out a taunt.]

I HOPE YOU'RE READY TO PRACTICE BOWING AGAIN, RENEGADE SCUM!!

[B. - Open To All]

[Oh, so that's why those giant robots were there. An old fashioned showdown, This Town Isn't Big Enough For The Both Of Us-style... But no guns and quick drawing, and with robots instead? Seems like it. Feel free to watch, and maybe wind up dodging some torn up dirt as the fight processes.]

R-ran! [He's shaken by her, but he otherwise won't move.] But I have to stop them - they shouldn't be fighting! I... I need to!!

[She grips his shoulder a little tighter, not enough to hurt, but she tries to guide him to turn to her.]

Just talk to me for a second, ok?

[He sniffles, but he relents. He turns to face her, because despite everything that happened, in his heart he can still only feel trust and admiration for her.

Steven then glances up at her and nods softly.]

[She rests both of her hands on his shoulders then, leaning down to eye level and to give him a big grin, in an attempt to be reassuring.]

I won't let them hurt each other too much, okay? I'll be like a referee or something.

But...

There's a lot of stuff going on between them. Stuff I can't say I know too much about, but...sometimes people have to fight like this to work it out, and it's Pearl's big chance to show Peridot that all that gem hierarchy stuff doesn't matter. My heart says that's something worth supporting.

So...I know it's hard, but...I'm asking for you to help me, Steven. For the sake of Pearl and Perri.

[He listens to her words, and they make sense. They sooth his anger... He trusts Ran to take care of them, and he can see how this is something that both of the fighters need.

So he nods with the light hint of a smile.]

Okay, Ran. I... I think I get it. And I trust you to keep an eye on it.

Alright! Then the next step-

[She takes her hands from his shoulders and picks him up, sitting him on her shoulders.]

-is you have to cheer as loud as you can so Pearl can hear you!

[He smiles as he's lifted right up to his shoulder.]

Okay! [Then, from his shoulder perch, he takes a moment to hug her face.] Thanks Ran!

[Then he pulls back and raises his arms in a cheer.]

PEARL PEARL, SHE'S OUR GIRL! IF SHE CAN'T DO IT... PERIDOT CAN! YOU'RE BOTH GREAT!

Yeah, yeah, that's the spirit!

[With all this enthusiasm, she just has to join on, naturally.]

Or what abouuuuuut...

PERIDOT, PERIDOT, WE'RE ROOTING FOR YOU! BUT IF PEARL WINS THE FIGHT THEN THAT'S FINE TOO!!

[And Steven waves his arms in the air as if holding pompoms. It looks like a well-practiced cheer routine.]

WHAT SHE JUST SAID! WE LOVE YOU BOTH!
