THE CASTLE ( NOV 7 )
Our resident warrior princess, Kidagakash Nedakh, has formulated a plan to investigate the castle and speak with the royals. (The OOC plotting post can be found here.) Now, it's time to put it into action.
The castle itself is huge. From the outside, you can see a beautiful garden, a pond, and a statue commemorating Odette. You can also see several guards, some more invested in their job than others. A few are stony-faced, menacing men with looks that could kill. A couple just look like they'd appreciate a pretty girl or interesting guy to liven up their boring day.
On the inside, all the halls look different, yet the same — different pieces of art, different wall fixtures, but everything else is identical. There's many portraits of the king and his late wife on the walls, sparkling chandeliers, and servants scurrying around. Odette's pale, smiling face and cascading blonde locks look somewhat familiar, but that might just be because of all the statues of her likeness around the city.
The castle has pretty much every room you'd expect a castle to have. A library, a wine cellar, a dining hall, etc. Within them, characters can expect to find various things of interest — there are many books, fancy stationery, even some valuable coins if you look hard enough. There's also many letters to be found detailing the situation in Chantes; of course, there's also plenty of letters on far less official business. Some of them have quite steamy imagery.
There are plenty of servants milling about inside the castle and out in the gardens. In the dining hall and their chambers are several of Chantes' most important nobles. And then, of course, there's you. |

[It wouldn't do at all.]
This was pretty fun, for once~. [It had its highs, but Ban was already displeased by what he found. No amazing treasure, no magical artifacts, nothing. It was just a collection of stuff he had taken from people who had more than what they needed. There was nothing all that appealing about base, expendable wealth.]
Found some nice trinkets. Nothin' interestin', though. [He admitted--knowing fully that Pearl was risking her life for a much greater cause than his own apparent greed.]

[She turns her attention back to Ban. While she had seen hims teal during the Festival not too long ago, this was different! This was the castle.]
You have to return those things!
no subject
[Ban popped his knuckles, grinning before leaning back against the window frame. He was enjoying himself now that Pearl thought it important to focus on his crime in particular--]
This is the price for me unlockin' doors for the group.
no subject
[Plus, what if the King had their heads about there being stolen items from the castle. That wouldn't be good.]
I demand that you return them immediately! Do you want us all to get into trouble after all this has been said and done?!
no subject
[There was someone who would bug Ban whenever he got into a klepto fit. Some big, dumb, fat fairy that always knitted his brows and called Ban a poor excuse for a human being. He missed the guy and Pearl seemed to be filling that gap--spiritually, given the physical aspect would be impossible.]
We're bound to be in hot water just for breakin' into the castle. Think a few minor offenses would bug 'em?
no subject
[They are in some pretty hot water for just breaking in, in the first place. She frowns tightly and walks up to Ban, holding out her hand expectantly.]
What did you steal exactly?
no subject
Huh? You think I've still got it all on me?
no subject
Well, where did you put it all?!
no subject
There were people like that?]
Are you kiddin' me? Ain't any thief gonna give up his stash just like that.
no subject
Look, I understand that this situation is bad enough as it is, with us breaking in... But we don't need you going around and stealing things!
Why do you even steal in the first place?! I know you represent 'greed', but what do you even need those things for?! What good is it to have so many items? Especially here!
no subject
[At that point, Ban began to lean against the window frame as if he needed a breather. He felt like he was going to be in for the long haul with this woman.]
You don't know that much about humans, do ya'? There're more reasons than anybody could count.
no subject
[She frowns back at him, looking him up and down before jabbing a finger in his direction.]
Then why do you do it?
no subject
You're wearin' me down, lady.
[Ban jabbed his thumb over his shoulder, pointing out the fancily arranged room just behind him, within the castle.]
Nice clothes, nice food--what else reason is there?
no subject
[She looks him up and down. He looks more than capable to earn his own possessions.]
Do you feel like you earn the things you steal?
no subject
Plus, I'm good at it. 'Do what you know', right?
no subject
Perhaps you should use that ability of yours to help others out, besides yourself.
[She says sharply. In what way? Pearl couldn't exactly pinpoint. She twirls her spear once more, turning towards the fray.]
no subject
[There were plenty of reasons why he didn't want to fight all that actively. Some people could mistake it as an altruistic choice, but for Ban--it was a measure of necessity versus non-necessity. When he stood up properly, Ban walked forward and placed his hand on Pearl's shoulder--looking to shove her aside, to the ground.
His other hand, finding the cloth holster on his belt, found the end of his Sacred Treasure. With a flourish, the four-sectioned holy staff turned in his hand, resting over his shoulder.]
Guess you don't get it, huuuh? This ability of mine is more than enough.
[A terrible aura rose from Ban's skin--something that would have made his self-proclaimed title of 'Holy Knight' somewhat easy to doubt.]
Gettin' involved like this ain't tough because I gotta put effort in.
no subject
Did he think she couldn't fight? Was that it? She makes it onto one knee, glaring up at his back, eyes like daggers.]
What was that for?!
no subject
[Ban gave Pearl an idle little sneer before vanishing--landing behind the soldiers with what looked to be a single step. His four-sectioned staff wove a tapestry of slashes, threatening to murder a great number of soldiers all in an instant. He could have taken off heads--even extracted hearts despite that speed. Instead, right besides Pearl, he dropped a massive pile of buckles. In the next step, he was back besides Pearl, his weapon already stuffed back into the cloth of its holder.
The soldiers, stunned, watched as their armor fell into tatters, breastplates, leg-plates and the like falling to the ground as their buckles were all stolen at once.]
'Cause, when people know you can do this-- they expect you to do it all the time.
no subject
The guards were scrambling to keep their armor up and on, looking like tattered messes. For a moment, Pearl is stunned before she looks up at Ban. This man, who seemed to be so sluggish before, just dealt with a hefty handful of men in an instant. Without even killing them with that deadly speed of his. Just. Stealing their buckles. As if it were nothing.
Pearl swallows thickly, feeling herself suddenly dwarfed in comparison to him.]
That... That was amazing....
no subject
[When the expectation of his abilities came, Ban was left with a few idling thoughts. Holy Knights were meant to be strong so they could eliminate threats to their kingdoms. There was rarely talk of mercy among them. Meliodas was likely the only man Ban had ever met who truly loathed to kill people--or, even great beasts.
Ban would have rather have just killed someone if there was no choice, but he fell into principle when it came to Meliodas. There were a few good thoughts Meliodas had, which had rubbed off on Ban in a good way.
The scrambling chaos behind him continued. Those knights--they weren't used to having to choose between armor and weapons. With one swift gesture of his arm, Ban stole away all their weapons, adding them to the pile beside Pearl. Swords, spears and bows--]
--There're people who I'm not strong enough to spare. Get it?
no subject
Granted, Pearl has shattered a Gem or two back in their war over a thousand years ago. But these were humans. Well, goblins as well, but they were all still creatures. Creatures in which Rose would have respected. Cared for. Pearl could never bring herself to kill an organic. Their deaths were... much different than a Gem's. There might be a situation where she might just have to end an organic's life one day, to save her or someone else's life, under the ranks of ALASTAIR.
What would Rose even think of all this?
She snaps out of it. Pearl looks to the pile of weapons and back up to Ban once more.]
Yes I... I understand.
no subject
Mmmm. [Placing his hands on the window frame, Ban snaked his way back into the castle room Pearl found him in, reaching for his bag of loot. He caught Pearl in the corner of his gaze, understanding how she felt all too easily. She couldn't have worn her thoughts with any less subtlety.]
You're a good person~. That's why this kinda stuff bugs you so much.
'Sides-- [With his loot over his shoulder, Ban popped right back out of the castle.]
Wars gets ended by nice folks like you--not freaks like me! [Despite himself, there was a bit of snickering as he slipped that one out.]
