MINI-EVENT ★ WELCOME/RESCUE PARTY
WELCOME/RESCUE PARTY The temporal insects have all either been squished or hopped into another dimension and all of Oska's inhabitants have gone back to their (relatively) normal selves. However, they didn't leave before chewing through some of the rift magitek, causing the new arrivals to end up in a slightly less safe place than the castle. ![]() The forest is home to a whole host of unusual creatures, some friendly, some not. While you're avoiding a run-in with them, you'll also have to be careful not to step into the pockets of distorted reality left behind in the temporal insects' wake. Each pocket seems to be from the time before Oska was ALASTAIR's HQ, when it was still just a crumbling universe. The feelings and sensations are vivid; the earthquakes feel very real, as does the falling debris, so watch your head. When everyone has returned safely to the castle, Dagny will be waiting with the promised rewards. Each established recruit who participated in the rescue and all the newcomers will receive two bracelets, both made of a thin gold chain, and the instructions to give the extra to somebody close to them to tighten their bond. OOC NOTES Established recruits are entrusted with diving into the forest and bringing the newbies back to safety. Once they have, everyone is welcome to get situated in Oska until the next mission starts. Characters aren't required to give their second bracelet away, but those who do (or have their bracelet stolen/lost/found) will find that the moment both bracelets are slipped on, they'll share a significant memory of theirs with the other wearer and vice versa. This is a one-time effect and will not work after the first time, even with different wearers. Please note again that this log occurs after the temporal bugs have been cleared out. Due to the OOC extension of the previous event as well as this mini-event, the IC time between the bug extermination and the start of the mission has been extended past the 24 hours stated in the dossier to around half a week. As a reminder, this log is open to newcomers and those who signed up on the OOC post only. |

it seems to, as his company throws the beast back from landing a blow on the smallest threat of all of them, a mercy that Graham will be grateful for, given the chance. protecting him means something, yet protecting the wolf is about the most anyone could ever do to gain his gratitude.
between magic, snaps at ankles and knees, and a well aimed arrow when the opportunity presents it self, they get to the drop sooner rather than later. ) We'll need to push hard, or it'll bolt around. ( they needed to surprise it, the creature was smart enough to avoid the danger if they didn't. )

[ Loki's panting lightly--a bit embarrassing, if he stops to think about it, as he's not mortal and really ought to have much better stamina than this. But he's also been trekking about the dark forest for quite a while now, and had fought off more than one of these beasts. ]

that also means the wolf has to go first, snapping and snarling at a weakened point in the monsters leg. as it twists down to land a blow to knock the wolf away it gets an arrow to the hand, throwing it off balance. that leaves the last blow for the strongest of all of them, if he intends to take it. )

Loki pushes the attack forward, his arms sweeping wide as he lets loose a barrage of blades. Te beast roars as it rears back, only to be hit with another burst of magic that sends it tumbling down over the precipice behind it.
It leaves them standing at the edge of the fall, grimy and soaked, and Loki straightens slowly, pushing his hair out of his face. ]
My thanks for your assistance. [ A dip of acknowledgement to the wolf. ] Both of yours.

that's a very sour thought, though, to share with a relative stranger. the wolf trots to his side and Graham forces his attention from the drop and on the objective, the new displaced. Brother sits at his side, head tilted and ears perked at their company, and mouth hanging open in a slightly weary pant from the exercise, though he seems less troubled and more curious. the wolf always seems more cheerful than his human companion. Graham spares him rub behind the ears as he watches their company. )
It's what I was sent to do. ( which might indicate he wouldn't have done it otherwise, though that may or may not be true. he's more likely to help a stranger than the man he'd been thirty years ago, but magic always managed to unsettle him. ) You were ripped here from a malfunctioning machine, just as I was. ALASTAIR promises to send us home for service, but either way Oska will prove safer than here.

Wonderful. I don't suppose you might be able to direct me towards Oska, then, would you?
no subject
There's a waypoint. Once everyone stranded in the forest is collected, they'll bring us back.
( Brother is indeed friendly, for a wolf, and sniffs at Loki's extended greeting with curiosity. what does an asguardian smell like? well, tolerable at the very least, considering it doesn't seem to trouble the wolf any. )
no subject
Oh, splendid. Would it be faster if we were to go help collect all the stranded, then?
no subject
Aye, it would. I'm not sure how many of you there are, but surely more than one.
( he'll take the help in rounding up others. why wouldn't he? it'll make the work go faster and it's clear the stranger is more than capable of dispatching of a monster or twenty. )
no subject
Well enough. Were you given anything to assist in locating the others, then? Or will we be walking until we encounter another?
[ The first would be wonderful, but the second seems more likely. ]

( if ALASTAIR had such technology, they didn't feel keen to share it. still, it was not to say that he was completely without aide. in fact, the wolf at his side was quite helpful in situations such as these. speaking of, Brother's ears suddenly lifted aloft, and without warning he began to pad off toward the woods. )
Unless you have a better idea, we might as well go with his. ( the wolf had probably heard something, and he wasn't likely to head off towards a dangerous one. hopefully it was another recruit, and not a rabbit... )
no subject
[ There's no way of knowing how long they may have to walk and he might as well take advantage of their time together to learn a bit more about his companion. An ally, any ally, will do much to help him along. ]

( it seemed hard for humans to comprehend, having a familial bond with an animal. still, when you were raised by wolves, was it so surprising to see them as family? his brother was the last of the pack he had left, and it made Graham especially protective of him. perhaps it made the wolf quite protective of him, also, when they were the last of their family still living.
it's not the whole story; that he was abandoned by humans and raised by wolves. still, it's enough of one for now. he doesn't exactly share the whole story often, and certainly not with a stranger. )

[ Loki's voice is light as he continues forward, pushing past wet vines and stepping over slick roots. He would offer sympathies for his companion's loss, but who is to say how much the other man truly regrets it? he could have chosen to leave his family over many a thing. ]
I am Loki. [ The slightest pause before he continues. ] Of Asgard. Might I have the pleasure of your name?
no subject
Graham. And the wolf goes by Brother.
( Graham isn't great at naming things, clearly. the wolf has clearly come to associate the word as his name, though, as his ears perk at the mention and he even glances back at the men following them. )

[ He sees the confusion and does not understand it--unless this man has read the stories that Midgard holds as legend and myth. Very little truth to it, but it soothed the mortals in their dark times, once, and now... Well. He is a god, after all. ]
wrap here maybe? :) lets do another sometime!
I think he's found something.
( they wouldn't find out for certain what it was unless they followed them, but the more stranded they found, the sooner they'd make it back to Oska. )
sure~ and yes please!
