[ open ] swift as the coursing rain, with all the force of a great typhoon

CHARACTERS: McCree; Koltira; yOU
DATE: First few weeks post-arrival in Perdition's Rest
WARNINGS: somebody might hit somebody else
SUMMARY: TRAINING DAY(s)

MCCREE

[ McCree's set up near the northwestern border of the town. He's constructed a line of targets--six flour sacks tied to poles, facing the expanse of desert beyond--and he's spinning his revolvers in his good hand. He's got a mess of other guns piled on top of a nearby barrel, some borrowed from Riza Hawkeye, some purchased from the local munitions shop. Attached to the barrel is a sign:

SHARPSHOOTING
(OR HAND-TO-HAND)
HERE.
]

KOLTIRA

[ Koltira's on the southern outskirts. Anyone conducting business in the town proper can see him just beyond the edges of the last buildings, giant sword in hand, black coattails fluttering behind him as he paces. He has no targets, and no sign, either. He has the sword in his hand, the knives on his belt, and a scowling expression on his face. ]

[ OOC: TRAINING, with either Koltira or McCree. Obviously, totally separate from one another--I just combined the log so as not to spam the community needlessly. If no actual training was discussed on record, but you'd still like to have your character learn something, feel free to handwave that discussion.

McCree offers: sharpshooting; brawling.

Koltira offers: weapons training; magic if you're capable; hand-to-hand also.

McCree is a friendly and patient teacher.

Koltira is not.

Of course, if you'd just like to bother them while they are holding deadly weapons, that is also fine. Please comment to either subheader below for a custom starter! Please specify what you're here for! ]

[ Koltira's proficient in any number of weapons, but he only has two on hand: his sword and a clutch of daggers. He holds three of them of up, their hilts between his fingers, and regards Riza impassively. ]

Take one, or take all of them. However many you think you're capable of.

[ He wiggles his fingers slightly. ]

And be quick about it.

[ The first lesson. ]

[Her own expression leans more towards wary than impassive, but she matches his composure all the same.

She pulls a single dagger from his hand, well aware that juggling any more with her current skill level would only result in additional injury on her behalf. (Koltira, she's sure, could take it.)]

Alright. What now?
respired: and i might just tear you apart (the danger is i'm dangerous)

[ Koltira lets the remaining two slip and dangle between his fingers by their hilts. ]

Now?

[ He tightens his grip, taking one dagger for each hand. ]

Tell me, first: what do you suppose are the most vulnerable parts of a living body?

[Easy enough to answer, even from a less combative point of view. (Near every part of the living body's vulnerable to a gun, regardless.) She doesn't answer right away, preferring to clarify first.]

It depends. Is the goal to incapacitate or kill?

A good question.

[ He leans back against the fence, spinning the daggers idly in his hands. ]

Daggers are small, brutal weapons. They are not designed for a clean encounter. They are designed to do terrible damage, quickly and efficiently. If you use it, you should have killing on your mind.

[ He tosses one dagger into the air, and catches it by the blade as it comes down. ]

Or severe injury, at the least.

[Her lips tighten as he describes briefly the extent of injury, though years of field service have dulled her sensitivity to blood in most contexts.

She's used to killing, yes, but cleanly and efficiently. The entire reason she'd elected firearms as her specialty was precisely because they'd leave no blood on her hands (though the same amount of weight on her shoulders as any other method of killing). But guns are no longer useful, bullets no longer piercing, and so she must learn a different, messier approach.]

Then the neck and the stomach, optimally, though the eyes would also be acceptable.
