& this child i would destroy [semi-open]
CHARACTERS: Sieglinde & maybe you
DATE: post-Koltira'ing, 10/11 onward
WARNINGS: angst and mentally unhinged children?
SUMMARY: semi-open log for visitors, etc., when Sieglinde shuts herself in her room to work post run-in with everyone's fav elf
[It had been a while, since she'd been reminded so viscerally of how helpless she was. How weak.
Sieglinde had returned from her encounter with Koltira unharmed, though her familiar had not been so lucky. Isengrim slept the sleep of the drugged, the pits of his eyesockets dark, one leg splinted and bandaged tight. But Sieglinde hasn't slept since then, not really- she hasn't left her desk.
If she could isolate what it was that triggered the frenzy... if she could determine what it was about coffee that made it palatable to ghouls... if she could find a spell that would return a huntsman's heart...
Her own project lay neglected, a cure for the Ultimate Magic... it could wait. She'd let the others wait too long, and look what had happened... Along the way, sleep began to wait. Then food. Then bathing. Days slipped by, she was sure, but she didn't leave the room.
She had everything she needed there.]

[ There's genuine curiosity in his voice. While questions about someone's well-being are usually only asked for the sake of politeness, it seems strange for her to call that sort of thing silly. Beyond her usual sense of propriety, there always is the possibility that the answer will change.
When her hand tightens on his arm, he'll very causally cover her hand with his. ]

You are not mortal... I know time must move differently, and injuries be glancing things to one such as yourself.
[She doesn't loosen the lay of her hand, though, for fear he might then remove his.]
It is just sometimes hard to remember- I apologize.
[He and Loki seemed a bit... casual, for gods. She was raised on stories that suggested there would be quite a bit more... divine wrath towards someone not showing more respect.]

Time continues to have meaning, even to me.

[Maybe it was a weird question... but Sieglinde had spent her life asking questions, and she wasn't about to stop anytime soon. Even if she was hungry, and tired, and in dire need of a wash.]
Or... do you simply move often? Or do you not show yourself to mortals enough to warrant it?

[ Godlings could hide, if they desired to do so. However, it was never something that they were forced to do. Mortals knew that the gods walked among them, and were sometimes considered more troublesome than they were worth. ]

[Not anymore, he said, which implied that humanity had been ignorant once. Was her own world like that- simply unable to interact with those they worshipped, unable to see them or touch them, (because she was touching Ahad now, he was definitely there), or... were the gods of her world as fake as magic had been?
The topic of her own faith is not one she usually breached, but.]
... I used to believe in the Goddess, but. I believe my world may not be so divine as your own.
no subject
I have never known a world without gods, but then, my experience is limited.
no subject
I must admit I did not believe in you at first. In Loki, either.
[The idea that she would actually meet a god- that one could be imprisoned by ALASTAIR...]
... then again my first meeting with him was far from divine.

[ At the mention of meetings, his interest seems piqued. ]
Should I ask?

[A very... normal scene. Too normal.]
I could never imagine meeting a god in such a way in my own world. This is not Homer...
no subject
That would not be an unusual way to meet a god, in the world I come from.

[Even though someone had offered such a thing... to take her back to his world rather than return to her own... even though she had accepted...
Part of her did not believe it could happen.]
