[CLOSED] there is no such thing as justice. all the best that we can hope for is revenge

CHARACTERS: Peridot and Jasper
DATE: 11/10
WARNINGS: MINDLESS DESTRUCTION. ATTEMPTED MURDER. JASPER BEING JASPER.
SUMMARY: Jasper lost another friend to social justice, and now it's time to punch this problem to death by throwing heavy equipment at it. Peridot is just happy her plan to disrupt the mining efforts is going better than expected.

In a shocking turn of events, Peridot's plan to disrupt the mining efforts by any means necessary (including blowing things up and rendering any and all equipment unusable) was actually well-received. This has really done nothing to quell her ego, which is already the size of a small European country.

In the dead of night, Peridot has come to the fracking fields (probably not alone, though not because she organized them) to wreak havoc, though really all she's doing is standing on a piece of equipment, high above it all and barking orders that no one is really paying attention to.

"YOU THERE. I WANT TO SEE SOME HUSTLE." She points accusingly at some random person, and then moves on to the next. "YOU CALL THAT DESTRUCTION?? YOU'RE A VERTEBRAE, SOLDIER. ACT LIKE IT."

The last thing she's expecting here is someone approaching her perch and actively calling her on this behavior. After all, she's made herself a clear leader of the Audentes. No one is going to disturb her or call her position into question.

No one at all.

Just like last time, Jasper hears her way before she sees her. This night, however, it's not her spurs she hears first, but her voice. Peridot yelling would be grating enough by itself. With the content taken into account, it's much, much worse.

She hasn't interacted with Peridot since she issued her ultimatum to her, almost two months ago, and she hadn't planned on running into her tonight. Now that she has, however, she closes in from behind, stalking as quietly and quickly as she can manage, as if she'd come here specifically to hunt her down. Her words echo through Jasper's mind with each step.

It may go against everything I know as a kindergartner, but as a Crystal Gem, I can't let a planet be destroyed just for its resources.

An equally familiar voice, rumbling and harsh, echoes across the fracking fields. Jasper is still a few hundred feet away, her arms hanging heavily at her sides. The fact that she's looking up at Peridot, from her current perspective, doesn't make her yellow glare any more conciliatory.

"You're embarrassing yourself."
