Thank you for your help, in that case.
[ It's fine though, really. She might not have the resilience of someone like he's trained, but she is from a country that teaches children warfare. It might be alright. ]

[ So he's going to go easy on her because unlike back at home there's no internal pressures to create heirs or anything like that. Besides she might be used to warfare, as he once was at her age, but its a hard notion to continue training people as he once did back at home. There wasn't anyone watching his progress or making sure he did as he was told. Perhaps he could break free of his habits starting with her. ]

[ She's not even sure of the best way to pull the katana out to be honest, so hopefully that comes up instead of him just telling her how to slice and dice or whatever. She has no idea what kind of methods he's going to come up with here after all. ]

First show me what skills you posses and from there we will devise a lesson plan.
[ So he's ready whenever she is. But he does realize that he's working with a new learner here, so he'll give some direction at least. ]
Grasp the sword by the hilt and with a strong motion pull it out with enough force to free it from its scabbard.

A strong motion... very well.
[ Then she actually pulls a biiiiiit too hard, bringing the katana blade out so fast that her arm gets flung to the side a bit. Oops. ]

Dexterity and endurance are also crucial in swordsmanship.
[ Though judging by the way she just fumbled he can foresee them needing a lot of training. So maybe he needs to change this up a little bit, ah. Having her attack him is probably too much for the first day then. He'll shift his position into a battle ready stance instead of a defensive one.
The program has uploaded what are essentially non-moving dummies for her to practice on now. One appears right before actually. ]
Keep your feet spaced apart like this and raise the sword above your head and bring it down quickly. Try aiming for its shoulder or arm.

That should not be a problem.
[ She takes a deep breath then glances back at him, trying to see the instruction for herself. With it in mind she turns back to the dummy, raising the sword up above her head and swinging it down. Her aim, thanks to using a gun normally, isn't too back. She gets it just below the shoulder where she was aiming for. Close enough. ]

Your aim is a bit off. Try shifting your stance to equate for the weight of the sword.
[ It sounds a lot more complex then it needs to be. But Arima is trying his best to determine her strengths and weaknesses right now. Her aim isn't actually too bad, which is a good start, but everything else seems to be lacking a bit. Understandable, given her history with weaponry. ]
Try not to raise it too high.
no subject
Not too high, I understand.
[ She focuses on the training dummy as she shifts her feet slightly, her hand raising with the katana. She peeks up to look at the height, lowering it a little to correct herself. On an inward count of three, she swings it down. It still isn't on point, but it's merely half a centimetre from where she was aiming. ]
