SUMMARY: lance organized a snowball tag event and now everyone can hate him for it

[ the time has come. the day you have all been waiting for. today... we dine in snow hell heck.

or so you've been promised, anyway. whether you believe it or not, whether you decide to make the most of it or not, today is team audentes' annual (that's right, it's tradition now) game of SNOWBALL TAG! teams have been assigned, messaged, and given their team ribbons*. all were told to meet at their designated spots to go over battle plans, practice the team motto/battle cry, or just generally try and get a good idea of who you probably shouldn't be aiming for. the battle begins at high noon (shout out to mccree i love you bruh) and ends when there is only one team left standing...

the rules are as follows!! ]

1. no biting, eye-gouging, fish-hooking
2. no aiming below the belt
3. only hits to count are those that land in the torso region, front or back
4. three hits and you're out
5. seriously you're out WE'RE GOING BY AN HONOR SYSTEM OKAY
6. no cheating!
7. but feel free to make use of the terrain
8. battle grounds stretch from the lake to the forest and all around the exterior of the castle area
9. "friendly fire" totally counts so make sure you know who you're aiming for

[Ohhhh, my god. She'd start weeping right now, were it not for the barrage coming her way, which she sees at the last minute --

And decides that the best way to get out of this situation is to just. Fall out of the tree. Which she does, landing on her back with a loud oof! She doesn't have a lot of time to hang around, though, scrambling to her feet to get to cover. Thinking Maya is on her team (she didn't throw any snowballs at her, after all), she grabs her arm to drag her along.] Come on!

[Well, Maya's not going to say no. Obviously she's so good at cheering her on that this lady -- who can fall in style, Maya's noticing -- that she wants her on her team.]

[She's not gonna say no, running with her]

Right! Right! Let's find an even better hiding spot and hit 'em back hard! We're the best!

Uhhh, right now, I'm more concerned about not-- getting hit. [She almost said not dying, just out of habit. Usually when she is running away from things, it's because she's trying not to die.

Eventually, she finds a snowdrift that seems to be tall enough to hide behind, so she shoves this girl down first and then dives after her.]

Okay! This should... this should work. We just need to lie low for a minute...

[Snowball fights are serious business. This is just like being on Pandora and trying to escape skags and bandits. Except: Maya makes a better sidekick and cuter than Rhys]

[Anyway, as our intrepid duo continues this dangerous battle of wits and... balls.... Fiona tosses Maya down and she shrieks upon the hitting the ground, unceremoniously.]

[Lying low isn't really her specialty]

Oof! We.... need a plan! To get rid of... [What are the team names, she doesn't even know] those other guys!

[Maya is about 1000x cuter than Rhys, it's true. Screw that guy.

Those other guys is very descriptive, but it takes Fiona a second to figure out who they are, anyway. She has to glance at the color ribbon on her arm to make sure: it's pink.]

Right -- purple and orange. [She glances at Maya. There's no ribbon.] Wait.

What team are you on?! Oh, my god.

[She'll leave that to you, Fiona!!]

Right! Those guys!

[Aaaand then she freezes up as Fiona looks for her ribbon. She's been caught!! Already!!! Sucks to be Maya]

I, ah... [think fast, Maya] lost it...? I'm on your team!!

[She's very convincing, clearly]

[That... seems fine? There's no reason for Fiona to doubt her, anyway, though she does give her one last suspicious squint before she moves on.] Riiight. Anyway.

[Anyway!!! Snowball fight. The important thing that's going on right now and that they have to deal with.

She shifts into a better position, crouching behind the snowdrift so she can start packing snow in her hands.] Come on, let's get going on this. We need ammo.

[Thanks, Fiona!! Maya won't let her down. Probably. Possibly.]

[...Only the future will tell...]

[Maya takes the cue and starts rolling the snow in her bare hands, giving Fiona a salute]

How should we play this? Spread out? Double-whammy? One of us distracts 'em, the other sneak attacks?

Ummm. [Good question. By which I mean Fiona hadn't even considered a strategy.

She screws her eyes up, squinting in thought.] I thought we'd just. You know. Jump out and throw shit. And scream.

[They're both putting so much thought into this]

....Why scream? To strike far into the hearts of the.... the them?!

Well, that's... a poetic way of putting it. [She tosses one of the snowballs back and forth between her hands, then sets it down with the little pile they're constructing.]

I just meant, like. It'll startle them. [It's not thinking too hard, it's a LOGICAL PLAN.] We could also be silent ninjas about it. That might be scarier.

Well, I am pretty poetic. [No she isn't.]

[Anyway, Maya rolls a few big 'uns, and keeps going, packing them tight with a lot of gusto. She's really into this, that's for sure]

Ooh, like being all sneaky like and getting the drop on them? Sounds like a plan!

[Except Maya and stealth do not mix]

Yeah! Yes, exactly. [LITTLE DOES FIONA KNOW...

Once she has a suitable amount of snowballs ready, she scoops up and armful and peeks out from behind the barrier. There's a cluster of EVIL PURPLES nearby; she glances back at Maya, presses her finger to her lips, and motions for Maya to come up and help her barrage them. Hopefully silently.]

[She's about to find out] Man, we make a pretty awesome team.

[Anyway, the oh so stealthy Maya is going to follow Fiona's commands, and sneak up to help ambush......]

[except she trips on her own feet and goes down, hard. The good thing is, Fiona is far enough that she isn't getting noticed by Evil Purples, but Maya's definitely getting barraged]
