[ oh, good—woulda been awkward if he'd had the wrong room. he wastes no time letting himself in, closing the door behind him and then leaning back against it casually like he didn't just experience a whole year of his life in less than 24 hours. no big. ]

Heeey, how's your day going? Mine's been weird.

[That's a weird thing to say! Fiona is all about weird stories, though, so she closes her book and looks over her shoulder -- and oh, wow, that is weird.

Not as weird as it would be if she hadn't already been through this Big Reveal with Vaughn already, but. Still weird.]

Oh, my god. That's putting it mildly. [She swivels her chair around so she can get a better look at him, perching her hands on her knees and grinning. The three of them are all on the same page now, it's exciting!] Did you just, uh. Get back? Whatever, you know what I mean.

Yyyep. Randomly popped back here right in the middle of collecting Vault loot. Sadly, none of it survived the journey through the wormhole or whatever. [ he shrugs. he's pretty much over it now. ] Guess it wasn't meant to be. Good thing we'll be back later.

...You know, unless ALASTAIR decides they love us so much that they want to keep us forever. Then we're SOL.

[ it could happen. ]

[Ah. Vaughn might be over it, but that's depressing as fuck to Fiona. Well... sort of. She opens her mouth to say something, then seems to think better of it and quickly switches gears, motioning for him to come out of the doorway and take a seat... like, wherever. There's the bed or the floor or the chair in front of her vanity. Choose your pick.]

Let'sss... hope that doesn't happen. I'd maybe like to see my sister again. [u know. Maybe. Whatever. It's not like she likes her or anything.]

Are you okay? When it happened to me, I felt all fucked up for a few days.

[moneyman]

Ahhh... yeah. [ he shuffles over and plops down on the edge of her bed somewhat sheepishly, feeling pretty regretful for making a smartass comment like that. of course she'd miss Sasha. all of them would. ] Sorry. That's a shitty thing to joke about.

[ a moment of silence for the mood he just violently murdered, and then he moves on, a little more tentatively. ]

Yeah, I feel pretty okay, actually. Maybe because it didn't happen in the middle of a mission? Or maybe it's just a delayed reaction and I'll wake up tomorrow and have a full-on existential crisis, I dunno. [ he shrugs, smiling apologetically. please accept his sincerest apologies if that actually happens. ] Buuut at least I still have a week or so to get it together if I do start to feel weird, right?

[She waves her hand dismissively when Vaughn seems to put out about it; she's not offended. She sometimes finds herself missing Sasha, wishing she were here with her, but if ALASTAIR is to be believed, once she's home again, it'll be like no time has passed. Sasha is safe, and that's the most important thing.]

Oh, my god. Maybe we could trigger it now and get it over with. [She's halfway kidding. Still, she continues:] Youuu're olderrr and everyone else is the same, oooohh. [She's wiggling her fingers and everything. You know, like a spooky ghost. It's spooky.]

[ he brings his hands up and slides them down his face, eyes wide with mock horror. ]

Oh, god, I think it's happening. [ he flops back onto her bed dramatically. ] Damn you, Fiona. You did this to me.

[Snorting, she grabs a pen off her desk and playfully tosses it at him, then folds her arms over her chest.]

I know it's a difficult time in your life, but we'll get through this together. [She feels a little dumb for feeling so weird about it when it happened to her, considering both Rhys and Vaughn seem to have dealt with it just fine. They can't be tougher than her about this, it's just not how things are done here.]

Oh -- I just realized. You'll actually be useful during missions now. Nooot that you were useless before. Per se. [Just a little.] I mean, you know, compared to Rhys.

[moneyman]

[ he pushes himself back up just in time to get hit in the face with the pen. not in the eye, at least, but the face nonetheless. he flinches and makes a whiny noise, but doesn't complain. he probably deserved that.

a moment later, he picks it up, fiddling with it thoughtfully. ]

It's fine, I already know I was useless. I mean, I spent the end of the last one hiding in the corner of an abandoned building. [ Rhys was there, too, but he's just going to conveniently leave that part out. bros don't out bros on their incompetence. ] I have no delusions about that. But yeah, I... should be able to help out a little more this time. That'll be nice.

[Eyepatches are all the rage, okay, he would have looked cool as fuck.

Also: she didn't hear about the huddled in an abandoned building part. That is not super encouraging, but she'll try not to hold it against him in his new role as a super competent bandit leader.]

Well, if this mission even involves, uh. Situations in which you have the opportunity not to hide in a corner? [She taps the Earth history book on her desk.] Things seem pretty tame, but who knows.

[ maybe, but he's pretty done with eyewear for awhile. he also values his depth perception... but pirates wear eyepatches, and pirates are cool. it's a tough call.

in any case, he wouldn't exactly be shocked to hear that Rhys didn't tell her about their heroic day of running with all their stuff into the ghost town and then camping out there until the lasers stopped. it was pretty embarrassing. ]

Oh, I won't be hiding in any corners this time. [ pause. ] Probably. I mean, sometimes that's objectively the best option, so I can't make any promises. [ he nods toward the book, suddenly curious. ] Anything especially interesting in there?

Haha. Yeah, never rule that out. [Maybe it's a super-awesome regenerative corner! Maybe the corner gives you gold if you stand in it. There are countless possibilities.

When he nods toward the book, she glances back at it.] Oh. [Picking it up, she moves to gently toss it underhand to him, assuming that with his New Look has also come New Eye-Hand Coordination.]

It looks like we're just at the beginning of a technological boom. So... there is electricity. And running water. But communication tech seems pretty primitive. You Hyperion boys would be the expert in that, though. --well, ex-Hyperion, I guess.

[moneyman]

[ yes, fortunately, it does. which is good, because otherwise he probably would have somehow taken it to the face again, and this time it would have actually hurt. he catches it easily. so impressive. ]

Hmm. Good thing we've still got the magitek, then. Buuut a technological boom, huh? That's kinda exciting. I mean, the technology in question probably sucks, but hey. I'm thinking of working with that stuff as part of my cover. I'm going to sound like a genius. [ he smiles proudly, as if that were actually a good idea, and then pats the book. ] Mind if I borrow this?

[She waves dismissively.] Yeah, go ahead. I'm pretty sure I got all I could get out of it, anyway -- it's mostly history and politics, which I am so sure is going to come up in every day conversation. [Not really. But it's better than nothing, probably.]

Sounds like you're putting way more thought into your cover than I am. I'm just kind of... [She waves her hands vaguely.] Gonna make it up as I go along.

Awesome, thanks. [ he'll probably read the entire goddamned thing, because of course he will. once a nerd, always a nerd. ]

Yeah, well, I'm not anywhere near as good at improvising as you are, so I kinda have to do some planning. [ remember when he tried to help out with her campfire story? yeah. he shrugs. ] I guess I could always just steal Rhys's "I'm a billionaire with a parrot" idea, but I dunno if I could pull that off very well.
