CHARACTERS: Reika Kagura and Haise Sasaki
DATE: Backdated to 2/20
WARNINGS: Nah
SUMMARY: [dramatic jojo music] ITS AWAKENING TIME
[ By now, much of Woodhurst has become a ghost town. Reika is out alone, but it's not that far a walk to Haise's safe house and she has her bat with her. If something happens, she'll be able to defend herself without killing other people. The most important part.
Coming to Haise's place is partially to help him, and partially to check on the people around the area. She's not too educated, thus barring her from the science side of things; so she only has physical work to devote herself to. Soon enough she arrives without being ambushed and rings the doorbell. ]

[ Perfectly safe. 'Safe' ]
I didn't name it, someone else did, and the name sort of stuck. I know it sounds a little weird.
no subject
[But maybe someone thought it sounded cool?]
Either way, so long as it doesn't hurt you.
no subject
It doesn't. Don't worry about me.
[ One of the few things in her world that doesn't come with a often-lethal catch. ]
no subject
[He's asked enough prying questions, and he thinks Reika reasoned enough to let others know if her power presented any risks.
No need to waste her time when they're here to work]
no subject
[ She steps back to give him some space, waiting for his signal. ]
no subject
[And he's...actually a bit of a tough critic there, but compared with his own mentor that's not saying a whole lot.
He shifts his weight, angling his wooden weapon between them]
Try and break my guard, if you'd be so kind.
[...Such manners]
no subject
[ She squares her stance and a differently coloured aura appears around her own pole - blue - and she tries to bring it down on his weapon. There's a lot of force behind it, amplified by the different Blood Art that she's using. ]
no subject
He's applying repair magic to counteract the damage]
no subject
[ Oh no, she's used too much force again. Her Blood Art could reinforce her own weapon, but it probably can't do the same to Haise's... she'll loosen her pressure for a moment now while he fixes it. ]
no subject
[His poor fake weapon, broken and not at the same time. What an existence that must be]
no subject
Okay. Let me know when you're ready.
[ Once Haise says he is, she'll try to strike at him again, this time directing her pressure wave so that her pole hits his block and then moves forward to try and jab at him. ]
no subject
Her change of tactics is a surprise, one that sees her reinforced weapon grazing his uniform as he slips back. In one swift motion he counter-attacks, thinking to keep his weapon from breaking again with his repair magic, only...
His repair magic isn't such a livid color-]
no subject
Haise-san? Did you just...
[ ... use a Blood Art? ]
Do you feel any different?
no subject
Ah, I- [Have no idea what just happened] What was that, just now?
dat face tho
[ Maybe Haise wasn't sensitive to resonance, but Reika certainly was as a God Eater. ]
Can you try to do that again?
only the best for Eon
I...suppose I could...
[Although the way he returns to eyeing the pole speaks to how surprised he is]
tyty
[ It's a surprise to her also, to which she eyes Haise with concern. ]
I had the ability to teach this to others back home... I didn't expect it to hold here too.
no subject
[Still, he tries to concentrate. It felt like his usual attempts at repairs, except for trying to do so in order to keep his weapon from being broken apart]
no subject
I think it's the same one. Sorry, I've never mentioned this ability of mine since... I didn't expect it to work on people who aren't from my homeworld.
[ But if Haise can learn it, then maybe other people also can. ]
Do you feel tired when you summon this?
no subject
[It's the closest that Haise comes to approximating the feeling of it, given he hails from a world with no such abilities outside of fiction]
It's not too bad though.
no subject
[ So it's safe! Sort of... ]
Blood Arts were described as a person's fighting will made manifest by someone from my world. I can teach it to people if I spend enough time with them... I think that's probably what happened.
no subject
[The light flickers out, with Haise no longer concentrating on it]
no subject
That's really good to know. It's a skill that helped me a lot in my homeworld. I'm sure it can help you too.
[ Especially since they have to fight. ]
If anything happens when you're using it, let me know, okay? I'll try my best to help.
no subject
[Although as with spells, he suspects he'll need quite a bit of practice. All of this is forever foreign to him]
Do you happen to have any pointers?
[He's not shy about asking for tutorials...]
no subject
Hm... Blood Arts are described more as the manifestation of your will, so I think practice would be needed if you'd want to be able to summon it quickly. I've been told that it's different for each person, but the willpower is the main key. And... training with me increases the efficiency of it too, due to some resonance details, so I can accompany you more.
[ It's weird? But it works and it's saved her several times back home, so she won't question it too much. ]
