DATE: Just after the hospital infiltration.
WARNINGS: Talking about cannibalism due to the context, perhaps. It's them, so tread careful. As always, I'll add if needed.
SUMMARY: There's something worrisome in the midst of the gods.
the world itself is a bad dream
[ Woodhurst has been many things, but quiet has not been one of them. at least, not during Loki's stay. there had been tossed into the midst of the pandemic, Loki only pausing to travel back through the timestream to Asgardia, where he was exiled and damned to the slim, cold space between the realms. there was truth curse to deal with, after that, King Loki's middle finger to his younger self, but there was assurance, too.
assurance that he'd never turn into that.
it had left him with a new perspective, tearing a hole between his expectations of himself and what would eventually come to pass. it left more room for other things, and other things encompassed affections that he had tried so hard to ignore in the past, calling them a hindrance rather than a means of growth. it had been something out of control, and it still was.
the apartments that they're staying in is upper scale, with a vast, abandoned roof. at least, no one wants to weather the cold. Loki doesn't care. he knows Ahad will seek him out, eventually, so he waits for him. there are snowflakes framing the green hoodie, and Loki watching the streets from up high. ]

Not that he allows himself to avoid it for long. Denial was one thing, but knowing he was intentionally keeping away was another. It was a weakness, and he detested weakness in himself. This was what would eventually force him to the roof, even if he does come through the door like a human would. ]
You cannot be here for the view.
[ It's looking...unfortunate, these days. ]
no subject
No. The view is terrible. [ the concern is plain on his face, ceasing to care about the own vulnerabilities that he had hoarded for so long during their time together. with a sigh he turns, tipping his chin back to look at him. ] But it's better now that you're here.
[ a tiny smile twists on his lips, as if that satisfies him somehow. ]
no subject
Aren't we beyond flattery?
[ He's rolling his eyes. As if Loki couldn't guess. ]
no subject
it just happened so rarely.
...
perhaps more lately.
there's a pause and he rolls his head back at him. ]
Daenerys is at risk, if not already touched with sickness.
no subject
[ There's a certain resignation to his words. While finding a cure is possible, Ahad is also intimately familiar with humans dying on him. It's not that he's accepted it, but that he acknowledges the possibility and is ready to deal with it. ]
Is that why you're here?
no subject
there's no hiding his concern. ]
Aye. [ it comes with some resignation. ] I have an inkling she's already been exposed, and fallen ill.
no subject
We should know her wishes, while she is capable of expressing them.
no subject
it's not just the hunger, but the madness that may come with it. perhaps he's not used to loving mortals the way Ahad has, or the way Thor has, or perhaps he's just not used to loving at all. ]
There's also something that bothers me ... if she falls victim to this sickness, her story ends here, amid the timeline. [ he puts a hand to the back of his head, and his brow furrows for just a moment, as if he's trying to parse something out in his mind. ] But it shouldn't.
no subject
[ There presence here is already a disruption. None of them should be here, playing out these roles...and yet, they are. Time does not progress forward neatly. Even Ahad, who lived largely as a human would, recognized that. ]
no subject
it was something else. something that he had felt when King Loki was weaving his tale in front of him, demanding that he became him. he said no to that possibility, and vouched to make something different. ]
When I say it does, it's not without the weight of implication. [ he tips his head to Ahad. ] There are stories of her where I'm from. They've traveled this far through the multiverse. Stories end, spawn off of each other, become obsolete, yes ...
[ he purses his lips together. ]
But this one isn't supposed to. Not yet.
no subject
She may also live on elsewhere, even if she dies in this place.
no subject
[ though there's discomfort that comes with that. there would be a Dany that didn't know him, but there would most certainly be a Dany. or maybe it's the discomfort in the break of the story, the timeline fracturing something that should continue, be whole. ]
... I'd like to do all I can to see that she doesn't.
[ he rests his hand against the banister. ]
no subject
[ It costs him something, to even say this. Despite that, he looks impassive. ]
no subject
Aye, that may make the two of us. [ his brows knit, and the discomfort expresses itself in his face. ] Mine with the infection. There have been those that have used it in the sense of the mortal realm, there may be means yet.
no subject
Some of my siblings sold their blood to mortals. It was extremely lucrative, but perhaps we shouldn't have given them any ideas about consuming us.
[ There's something bitter in his tone. ]
no subject
That sounds ... messy.
[ in all meanings of the word. ]
The mortals used Thor's to create a copy to do their bidding in a political war in his name. He was none to happy when he found out, as you can imagine.
no subject
A few of my siblings were devoured by a power-mad demon. I worked for a time to uncover what was happening, but we were almost too late. [ As much as he hates to admit it, they might have failed if Oree and Itempas hadn't stepped in. ]
no subject
Well, a few drops of blood certainly bring nothing good. [ a pause, and as if it were sealing a deal. ] For Dany, then. That's it.
no subject
[ And Loki's, when it comes to this. Even if that goes without saying. ]
