WARNINGS: Zombie attacks? Violence? Shopping???
SUMMARY: Lockdown at the mall! Grab your CDs and your soft pretzel, it's about to get bad.

LET'S GO TO THE MALL

LOCKDOWN

Business has been rough for Woodhurst Shopping Center ever since riots and unrest about the Bristol Virus have shunned most to their homes. Perhaps ill-advisedly, in attempts to draw a few more customers back into the polished halls of the grandest shopping experience Woodhurst has to offer, a weekend of big sales, great bargains, and fun family activities was widely advertised in the Woodhurst Watch. There was even a scheduled public concert, performed by the University Choir.

The turnout was smaller than hoped, yet the air was quite optimistic. Shoppers enjoyed the day of activities and fun, and the sense of security was bolstered by the increased security detail. There was even some members of the press on hand to document this return to normality in a troubled time. Everything was going well, until a scene broke out in the food court.

Security tried to quietly remove members of the choir that suddenly seemed to snap, plowing into one of the food stands and starting to feed on raw meat. However, a good handful of them escaped instant confinement, and while many of the visitors fled the mall as soon as they could, soon Police Detail arrived and put the entire building on lockdown. Nobody in and nobody out until the situation was resolved.

18:00 TO 23:00 HOURS

Anyone unlucky enough to be trapped in the mall is left to their own devices, with very little knowledge to go on. This includes many civilians, as well as a small number of Audentes agents. This also includes a small number of infected, more than just the university choir. There's a voice over the loudspeaker imploring people to hide in stores, barricade doors, and stay put until help arrives.

The majority of the infected seem to linger in the Food Court especially. Bad news for anyone trapped and starting to get hungry as the hours pass by, without any obvious assistance from the outside. The members of ALASTAIR have a choice, help protect or just do their best to avoid the infected themselves. Characters can get into the Security Office for a camera feed on what is happening in the mall, and potentially use it as a base of operations to work from.

00:00 TO 02:00 HOURS

It becomes apparent that the number of infected in the mall are somehow increasing, despite the lockdown. It means that those that have squirreled away into stores and outlets are growing less and less safe as infected numbers multiply and they begin attacking barricades. To make matters worse, anyone that hasn't found cover will find the infected extremely reactive, and willing to give chase around the mall.

The security feed indicates the infected seem to be coming in from the Parking Garage. Investigation will reveal a sewer outlet on the bottom floor. Characters will have to decide whether they should utilize the tunnel as a means of escape, or if sealing it off would ultimately leave the remaining hours of lockdown a little less violent.

04:00 TO 09:00 HOURS

It's been an agonizing 12 hours, and with surprisingly little aide from the outside. With time to make preparations and put plans in place, now it's time to end this lockdown once and for all. Audentes is tasked with neutralizing the remaining infected as well as escorting any remaining civilians to safety, by any means they decide on.

It is up to Audentes to decide how the end of this event plays out, be it removing or otherwise drawing away the lingering infected, or putting them down once and for all. There are plenty of civilians that have been bitten and attacked, leaving the question in the air as to whether they are infected as well. What should be done with those that could be bringing the virus back to their families? The team is going to have to decide on the answer to that.

[ Turns out using the guns was the best inspiration to get people to move. Some are terrified, - maybe worried the same weapons might be used agains them? - but most, on the opposite, seem more secure that the person telling them what to do is armed.

The downside is that a) Genos didn't manage to be as good bait as he hoped b) some of the limping infected, don't seem to be hindered much by the damage. ]

Not working... [ Genos makes some more noise, by continuing the destruction of anything that happens to be in his way, while trying to steer himself more to the front of the line of people moving to the safer place

One of the infected, turns his attention in the same direction and rushes into the civilians. There it goes, Genos' perfect plan in shambles ]

Run, go faster! [ Not that he needs people to tell that, but oh well. He's running now to intercept the infected before he can reach the civilians ]

[It's a result that Giovanni thinks he could have predicted, and there's the sharp click of his tongue against too-sharp teeth, though the sound is likely lost in the wave of panicked screams that follow when the infected begin to rush for his frightened followers.

No matter. He's prepared for this, he thinks.

He'll keep moving, picks up the pace as an indication for the others to do the same, not that they need much encouragement, fear gripping them like a cold hard vice, but for his part he'll turn then, level the pistols once again. He'd been aiming to do as little damage as possible, before, wanting to allow for full recovery should the sick people stand a chance of being cured-- but this time he'll go for the kneecaps, bullets shattering bone, meaning to bring them down with a little more permanency this time.

It's not killing, after all. He's still following the wishes of his teammates. Right?]

Next time, you stick with playing babysitter, all right?

[ A shot is fired, and the infected falls, it almost make Genos stumble, because he did not expect that- but he keeps his balance and changes the movement in last moment. Picking last civilians straggler by arm and pushing- helping the forward. ]

You seem to be doing quite good job at it. [ He says to Giovanni, but without edge. He can see where he failed, and he's going to deny that. Soon civilians are in safety and all it's left is to raise the barricade again.

The infected with shattered kneecap seems to be the only one permanently immobilized. ]

Is there a chance he bleeds to death? [ There's something unnerving in that possibility, but given that it's healthy people that are their main priority and responsibility, there's nothing anyone can do. There isn't much worry in his voice because of that. ]

[He pointedly ignores that initial comment, adding nothing by way of verbal response, only flashing a sharp-angled smile which suggests he's well aware (or at least, believes) that he's in the right, here.

It's only once they have the remaining civilians squared away that he turns, his dispassionate gaze falling on the wounded infected, some of them still trying to drag themselves pathetically across the ground. There's the slight canine cant of his head, a moment of consideration, and then--]

I suppose it's possible. There's a place up ahead being used to corral the infected. There's a chance someone else will know a thing or two about treating their injuries.

[He and Arima had dropped off some infected there earlier in the night, and as for himself, he only knows how to cause harm, not to treat it. He doesn't, however, look overly concerned as to the specifics of the infected people's fate.]

[personal profile] scrap_metal 2017-04-05 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Genos carefully considers that information. He's torn between just staying here and keeping the people safe, and doing something about the particular, severely wounded infected. If their condition was incurable, he wouldn't bat an eyelash, not considering them human anymore.

But if the cure is successfully developed... He decided on no killing for now, so he can only follows that. ]

Got it, just me point the way.

[ Just using some impromptu bandage to slow the bleeding, and dropping the infected somewhere further away - bodies like this are not good for civilians morale - should be enough.

And in case of no bandages what's best to use? Oh right, that one thing he doesn't have. ]

And, right- I need you to lend me a sleeve [ he turns to Giovanni with not even a word "please" ]

[personal profile] ofobedience 2017-04-10 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
[He's prepared to point the way, to even lead them there perhaps, and he'll move over towards one of the injured infected with the intention of dragging a couple of them off in the appropriate direction--

--but then the question comes, and pointedly, he raises a brow above the rim of his glasses, expression coolly incredulous.]

The infected have sleeves you can use, don't they? You don't require mine.

[Because whilst he isn't overly precious about his clothes - riddled with bullet holes and tears as they often end up in the heat of a fight - he sees no reason to purposely spoil them when it can be avoided. It's a nice suit, okay, he likes this one.]
scrap_metal: (answering phone)

[personal profile] scrap_metal 2017-04-10 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ Without missing a beat Genos points at the, bleeding-out immobilized infected ]

That's a jacket, sleeve from it wouldn't make a good dressing.

[ But then he realizes... ]

...but I guess, the other trouser-leg seems fine.

[ And with that he moves forward, to get things done. Immobilizing the infected further, and ripping the material from the unharmed leg, for a makeshift dressing. What can go wrong? ]

[personal profile] ofobedience 2017-04-12 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
There you are, then.

[His voice remains a sardonic drawl, but he's at least moving to 'help' in as much as he can-- by knocking the remaining infected unconscious with a sharp blow to each of their heads, intending to make it that much easier to transport them.

He does, at the very least, observe what his teammate is doing from the corner of his eye, moves to mimic his actions with the other, bleeding, infected. It's not as though he knows much about first aid himself, after all, more accustomed to killing than curing, too used to his own swift-healing body to know how to properly cope with the greater fragility of the people they're now working on.

Still, eventually he's done, and he'll heft two infected up onto each shoulder as though they weigh very little at all, despite his own slender frame.]

This way, then.
scrap_metal: (sounds like determination)

[personal profile] scrap_metal 2017-04-12 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm right behind you.

[ Genos follows swiftly with his own haul of the infected threw across his shoulder. Thanks to the dressing he manages to not get blood on his clothing, but he's going to check again before they return. It might not be a problem for him, but it would be pretty stupid to bring infection to not-immune people. ]

How many infected are in the corral?

[personal profile] ofobedience 2017-04-15 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
[He'll start walking, movements fluid and swift, not glancing back to discern the other Audente's position or whether or not he's keeping up, but Genos' question comes easy enough, lets him know that he isn't far behind.]

About twelve, the last time I checked, all rendered unconscious of course. Though I suppose there could be more by now. And some may have woken up. Best to be on guard.

[Not that either of them need concern themselves with being bitten, Giovanni healing as he does, and quite immune to the infection. Still. It would be preferable not to cause the sick people any more harm than has already been inflicted on them.]
scrap_metal: (frowny realization)

[personal profile] scrap_metal 2017-04-20 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ Genos follows, memorizing the way. He might have a need for that corral again later. ]

Good strategy. If most keep being unconscious, that might make it easier to let civilians out of here.

[ The less active infected roaming around, the less risk of someone getting bitten. Or even just panicking. Just one panicking person in evacuation effort could severely affect the success of such operation ]

[personal profile] ofobedience 2017-04-22 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
I should think so.

[Again, he says it without looking back as they slowly draw nearer to the infected corral, his strides long and full of grim purpose.]

Though I can't claim credit for the idea, hahah. Another of our teammates suggested it. The more of them we can keep contained, the better I suppose.
scrap_metal: (what do you want?)

[personal profile] scrap_metal 2017-05-08 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe the whole building could be used for exactly that- if they let the healthy civilians out first.

[ The mall is already destroyed, it's quite successful at being locked down, if they could keep the whole building as a corral it would make things easier in the future. If the cure was to be administered, of course. Or for the grim alternative. ]

...no chance for that I guess.

[ always an optimist ]

[personal profile] ofobedience 2017-05-17 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well. Having a larger containment area wouldn't hurt, something less scattered.

[He'd been using various places throughout the city at Haise's direction, until now. The use of the mall wouldn't be such a bad idea...supposing the city authorities would go along with it. As an officer of the law for the duration of his stay, he supposes he could at least make such a suggestion.

For now though, there's the task at hand, and as they draw close to the supply unit where he and Arima have been locking up the infected, he finally glances back over his shoulder.]

Over here.

[personal profile] scrap_metal 2017-05-23 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ So that's where they leave the "package". Secure and secluded should be enough. Genos doesn't say anything until they get the job done. As fast and as efficient as possible.

The uncertainty he feels about having these turned humans as enemies, he keeps to himself. If he fell from that rift earlier just a few months earlier, before he met Saitama... He would probably think it's safer to kill them all for the safety of everyone else.

Things do change. ]

I'll be going for a patrol, see if someone doesn't need help. Thanks for the assistance.

[ ooc: finishing the log around here? ]
ofobedience: please do not take (1987374 (8))

looks like a good spot to me!

[personal profile] ofobedience 2017-05-23 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[A similarity between them, perhaps-- just a few months prior, had they found themselves in a situation like this, Giovanni would have killed the infected people of this town without a second thought, gunned them down where they stand with sharp shots to their heads, putting a swift end to their sickened misery.

But things have been changing in him, slowly but surely. The gradual acceptance of his place on this team, connections with some of the others here turning, bit by incremental bit, into something like the beginnings of loyalty. As such, he's prepared to do as they wish of him, regardless of his feelings to the contrary. Because of this, more of the people of Woodhurst will survive this calamity in their midst than otherwise might have done.

Task completed, infected locked up, he turns to give the Audente at his side a brief, curt nod.]

You're welcome. Happy hunting. Hahah.

[And with that, for now, the two of them go their seperate ways.]
