CHARACTERS: naruto and aang!
DATE: early feb, early woodhurst
WARNINGS: none!
SUMMARY: p-p-protag power!
[ Naruto has already considered the possibility that his own chakra and whatever Aang uses to airbend are not interchangeable and that he won't be able to get any kind of new skills from this meeting, but while he's not sure if he'll gain anything in that area, he knows for sure that he's going to get one hell of a kick out of whatever Aang shows him. Even if it's frustrating to think that there are some things he straight up can't do, the blow is softened by the fact that Aang probably can't do most of the stuff he can, and therefore the only option left for them would be to share their coolest tricks.
Naruto gets to show off once in a blue moon, mostly because it's rare that he can do anything anyone else can't in any better capacity, and also because his skills aren't as refined as they probably could be. Sage chakra is the only skill he's got that his peers probably don't, and he never got chance to show that off before arriving here, so the afternoon is ripe for possibility picking.
He stretches his limbs like he's preparing to spar rather than getting ready to learn what probably equates to a simple parlor trick. To him, though, it might as well be a sanin-level jutsu for all the excitement he's showing. Tucked away in a space far away enough that not a soul would stumble upon them while they're sharing techniques, Naruto sits cross legged in his sage cloak (if no-one sees them, no-one can question it so he doesn't see a reason why he couldn't wear it) and then rolls up the sleeves, a signal that he's ready. ]
Okay. [ He says, then sniffs as he sets his game face. ] How'dya do the marble thing?

cries, i'm so late
(It helps that Woodhurst hasn't been run down yet, and that only the barest signs of infection are cropping up in the populace.)
He sits across from Naruto, mimicking Naruto's crossed legs and posture simply because he can. By way of explanation:]
With airbending! I just have to focus and get the air to move around between my hands, and then the marbles will move along with the air. See?
[And he demonstrates by pulling forth the little steel balls and twirling them between his palms. It's certainly not the greatest explanation in the word, but it's hard to explain something that he can do by instinct now.]
i am equally late orz
Focus and get the air to move... Okay...
[ He knows how to focus and get chakra to move, so he holds up a hand and tries to do that. He gets.. not very far, and after a little straining that has him red in the face, he gives up with a loud sigh. ]
See, when I move my chakra around I gotta have another me do it for me, I can't do it by myself yet. An' even though my chakra is wind type, I dunno if I can move the wind..
throws us both a late party
[Aang echoes it with some surprise, snapping back to attention after Naruto's not particularly successful airbending attempt. (It hadn't really been much of a surprise, given the particular lineage of the bending arts, but he'd still hoped for some sort of miracle, to show them both up.)
But from the sounds of things, airbending's not the coolest thing that'll be shown today.]
What do you mean, another you? Do you have a twin or something?
[The only logical explanation for all of this, obviously.]
🎉🎉🎉🎉
[ Sometimes this kid says things so automatically that when people repeat him it's like he's never heard the words before, and he gets this dumb look on his face as he blinks the idea into recognition. His clones are something everyone's kind of got used to where he's from, and so it's still taking him some time to remember that not everyone can do that sort of thing here. Now that he realises it, however, he's totally up for showing off. ]
I mean clones! I can make clones! Do ya wanna see?

But more importantly—]
Yeah!
[Said loudly without any trace of hesitation and with 200% excitement in his eyes. If Naruto has some way of copying himself then boy howdy does Aang want to see. Boy howdy does he want to learn too - just think of all the things he could do with multiple hims! Practice firebending while also penguin sledding at the same time while also eating all the best foods in Ba Sing Se.
It's nothing short of a dream.]
Show me, show me!

Ya see? These guys are special, too, 'cause ya can hit 'em and fight with 'em and they don't go away unless you really wear 'em out!
[ He gives an example. He pinches his nearest clone on the arm, to which the clone responds with a loud cry of surprise and pain, before pinching him back. ]

[It's a loud excited shout, filled with only the sort of glee and excitement a child can muster up. Aang's on his feet then, leaning forward to peer at the five Naruto's now before him. Which one's the real Naruto he can't even tell, but it doesn't really matter. He's more fascinated by what just happened than figuring out how to tell real from fake.]
How long can you keep them for? Can they do everything you can do? What happens when you don't want them around anymore? Can you just make them go away in smoke again?
[It's a veritable barrage of questions, but he's too worked up to care.]

Yeah, we can do everythin' the original can. Regular clones are just like tricks, but since we're shadow clones, we share the original's energy. It gets split every time he makes one of us, so we get some of his power too. An' when we're done with what we're doin' we can either disperse ourselves-- [ The clone speaking holds two fingers up in a sign infront of his mouth and promptly disappears in another puff of smoke. ]
--Or I can do it! And whenever they go away, everythin' they've experienced comes back to me. It's a good way of doin' a few things at a time without missin' out on anything, y'know! [ Original Naruto takes over again, grinning up at Aang from where he's sitting on the floor. ] Pretty cool, right? It took me ages to learn how to do it, but it's what got me to graduate the academy.

That sounds so amazing! You could do anything you wanted like that. Skip school, visit a bunch of different places at once, learn a bunch of stuff at the same time.
[Ugh, why can't he do it!!! Well, actually, who says he can't do it, it's not like he's tried yet. Maybe.....]
How d'you do it? Do you just think really hard?
