tea with the demon and the witch [OPEN]

CHARACTERS: Sebastian Michaelis ([personal profile] cutlery), Sieglinde Sullivan ([personal profile] grunehexe), and YOU

DATE: Today?! I guess?!

WARNINGS: None

SUMMARY: Sebastian received tea and a teapot for his holiday gift, so what better way to use it than to share it? That, and it's a prime opportunity to socialize Sieglinde. It's lessons time.

[ Whether you received an invitation to come to tea or just happen to be an especially dedicated explorer, you're likely to find the local apothecary's first floor slightly rearranged. After a bit of bargaining with the owners, Sebastian had managed to convince them to allow for a small gathering. While Sieglinde's little apartment above the store was well enough, it was certainly not suitable for what Sebastian had in mind. He had received a gift of tea (earl grey, of course) from ALASTAIR, and not quite having a taste for it himself, well. He had another idea on how to use it.

It was perfect for a lesson for the young lady.

A large table is set up for tea, including a plethora of tasty treats all made by Sebastian himself. He won't be sitting to join, since it's not proper for a butler, but he'll happily stand to the side of the room with the teapot at the ready to give people tea as they need a refill. There's no need to ask, since he's a butler of perfect principles, so just as you seem to be wanting more, he's there to refill your cup.

In his mind, this is an occasion for Sieglinde to meet others and socialize with them, and he can gently give lessons on proper etiquette, but it might not be in yours. Feel free to strike up a conversation with the butler quietly playing host, though he'd much prefer you speak with everyone else! ]

ooc ; Welcome to a tea party! This log is OTA, so feel free to tag in even if you don't have CR with Sieglinde or Sebastian. He's too polite to turn people away, and Sieglinde is probably just excited to meet more people... Feel free to make toplevels and use this as a mingle post. I'll be responding to every toplevel at least! ♥

[Feel free to pat this skeleton's hand. After all, he wears mittens for a few reasons, but one of which being to make his hands a little friendlier looking.]

I told you, I wasn't nervous! Another word I would use to describe myself- ANTI-NERVOUS! I was raised on cannons, spikes, and bridges across large bottomless chasms! The pillars of my youth!! A knife is nothing!!

[ So why did it upset him so much...? ]

[ Rest assured, Alice won't dream of actually taking her knife out around anyone if it startles them. She does, on the other hand, smile at him. ]

Bottomless chasms? That's very brave! And all in your youth? Where on earth did you live?

Underground!

[ That's it, that's the very creative name they all called it. ]

I am quite fond of things involving perils like electric mazes and ice traps!

Surely you've experienced these sort of things yourself...?

[ It's what builds character in children after all. Human children, bone children, fish children... ]

Underground? What a peculiar name.

[ Really, is it any better than "Wonderland"? ]

I've experienced far too many perils as it is, and I'm not even yet twenty years old. Nothing like electric mazes or ice traps. [ To say all of that has happened to her while in Wonderland is a bit of a stretch with all the technicalities of it being in her head. ]

Well, it's... under the ground! Our King was not very good at naming things.

Oh- so you've never...??

-Don't worry! I'll remedy this right away! I'm sure I can find a way to set up some kind of puzzle trap up while we're here! The Deadly Gauntlet, Version two-point-oh!!

"The Deadly Gauntlet"?

[ Alice holds up her hands as if to physically block it. ]

I think I have managed just fine with jail breaks and castle storms, mister, I am fine with excitement, currently.

Not a fan, hmmm...? I thought humans would be well accustomed to these sort of things by now...

In that case, I'll make a less extreme puzzle for you then, how about that? Maybe a... word search, perhaps??

I think I've had my share of troubles for now, thank you.

[ A giant executioner chasing her through the walls of the queen's maze is a start. ]

What is a "word search"?

[ Even if she said yes to any of those "horrible" traps, it's 90% likely said trap would either backfire on him, or he'd wind up trapped by it too, so... Reassurance that he continues to be entirely harmless. ]

Oh! It's a written puzzle, in which there is a series of words you must find, and they are spelled somewhere in the jumble of letters in a square arrangement. I don't particularly like them, but they at least aren't crosswords or junior jumbles.

Ah, those don't sound terrible, at all.

[ She had a fondness for puzzles as a little girl; as an adult, she has more patience for them, now, especially riddles and the like. He is a lot like the Caterpillar, in that respect. ]

I loved them when I was little, if I had the attention span for them, that is. Truth be told, I think more of us can do with those sort of puzzles than what you suggested previously. They'd be less physically strenuous.

[ She's trying to say a "Deadly Gauntlet" may scare off people for different reasons. ]

The Gauntlet is clearly only for those who are at an Expert Puzzle Solver level! I wouldn't throw a beginner at it! Or a child!

Honestly not a fan of it too much, but Undyne seemed very impressed when I had originally made it. I think I might just skip the Gauntlet this time. But I am definitely still going to do the ice puzzles with the switches, that is a classic and I won't be told otherwise!!
digophelia: (and finally slumber in the clouds of ice)

[personal profile] digophelia 2016-01-04 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ Really, it's hard for her not to smile at that. ]

I'm sure you'll find someone that will be interested. Though, if you need someone for "word searches", I will happily volunteer.

[personal profile] boneafide 2016-01-04 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Alright! I'll remember that, when I get back into my puzzle-making!! I really do miss doing it, since I haven't had the time to for a while now!!
digophelia: (Let's to the darkest place we know)

[personal profile] digophelia 2016-01-04 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
How come you haven't made any puzzles recently?
boneafide: (12)

[personal profile] boneafide 2016-01-04 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I've been busy helping the goblins, mostly! And also it's pretty hard to write out plans in the dark.
digophelia: (Fear not sister dear)

[personal profile] digophelia 2016-01-04 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ God forbid, even with her fear of fire- ]

Do you not have lanterns, mister?
boneafide: (pic#9883840)

[personal profile] boneafide 2016-01-05 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
My eyesight isn't the best, even with lanterns. But it's fine! Once the sun is back, I'll be back to puzzle making for sure!
digophelia: (what. even.)

[personal profile] digophelia 2016-01-05 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ She actually looks disappointed. ]

I'm a bit... surprised that you're not able to see in the dark. Or that you can see, at all.
boneafide: (pic#9770156)

[personal profile] boneafide 2016-01-07 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
I can do okay in the dark! The whole Underground is pretty dark compared to how bright the Surface is, after all! But I'm also used to electricity.

[ And suddenly, an idea is struck. ]

I never got your name!!
digophelia: (these are the interfering themes)

[personal profile] digophelia 2016-01-08 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
My name? Oh, my apologies, that was rude of me.

My name is Alice Liddell.
boneafide: (14)

[personal profile] boneafide 2016-01-08 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It's nice to meet you, Alice! I, the Great Papyrus, have decided to show you something amazing! And eyeball-related!!

[And before she has a chance to tell him if she does, or does not want to see this eyeball-related amazing thing, he places his gloved hands over his eyesockets. And, then he removes his hands, like one would do when playing peek-a-boo with a toddler, and suddenly- eyeballs. Googly, stupid-looking ones, as well.]

NYEH HEH HEH!!
digophelia: http://fuckyoufolks.deviantart.com/ (Far from the bitter gaze of soulless men)

[personal profile] digophelia 2016-01-09 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
[ Honestly, a normal person should be startled with this, and yet Alice doesn't bat an eye at an eye-bulging skeleton. ]

"The Great Papyrus"? That's such a mouthful.

[ Prepare for Victorian formalities. ]

So you can see, then? Sort of. Good!
boneafide: (31)

[personal profile] boneafide 2016-01-11 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
And "Alice Liddell" isn't?

[ Come on, it's only one more syllable longer than his. ]

What, did you think simply because I didn't have eyeballs always present, I couldn't see?
