EVENT ▸ DIPLOMACY
DIPLOMACY ![]() As the skirmishes between wandering Mountain and Sea Clan groups continue in the Flowerlands, by this point enough attackers have been interrogated by Guild Ophelia to paint a compelling picture of unorganized chaos. Each time a skirmish is interrupted, both sides blame the other for starting the impromptu fight, claiming no knowledge of or participation in an organized cabal; the conflicts are entirely coincidental, they say, just a situation where enemies clash in neutral territory. The Flowerlands are suffering, crops trampled and livestock traumatized, and more and more Mountain and Sea Clan people are terrified to leave their cities, lest they be set upon by warriors from the opposing clan. Under this type of political strain, Hanabira threatens to erupt into full-out civil war at any moment, with or without the sanction of the empresses. Two weeks after Ophelia's arrival in the Empire of the Crashing Wave, Doro sends word: Empress Nama and Empress Youmi have agreed to meet and discuss the term of an alliance. Doro's castle will serve as a meeting place, but the difficult part is bringing the empresses there safely. You foreigners have already proven yourselves to be capable and invested in seeing the conflict to a peaceful conclusion, so Doro contracts Ophelia to act as escorts and guards. This might just be the perfect opportunity to whisper proposed solutions to advisors or, if you're lucky, to the empresses themselves. ▸ THE RETINUE Ophelia has a few different options if they choose to take Doro's contract: escort Nama or escort Youmi and/or guard the Flowerlands castle. ![]() It's a week's worth of travel to return to the Land of Celestial Mountains from the Empire of the Crashing Wave, so the sooner Ophelia starts out, the better. Skirmishes between clans still dot the forests and farms of the Flowerlands, and each time the retinue encounters one, they must decide if they have the time to interfere or if they must push on. After all, the longer there is no peace in Hanabira, the more dire the situation becomes. When the group finally reaches the Land of Celestial Mountains, they'll find that the entire city is locked down. Guards bar the gates, but upon seeing Doro's seal, they'll let the guild members inside and explain the situation: Mountain Clan rebels have stormed Heavenly Summit, cutting a large swath through the castle. Much of Nama's court and guards lay dead inside, with the rebels holding the remainder hostage -- including Empress Nama herself -- unless war is declared against the Sea Clan. The city guards are afraid to approach, worried that this will only anger the rebels further and cause Nama's death, and have directed all townsfolk to stay in their homes until the situation has been resolved. The guards caution Ophelia not to try any rescue efforts themselves, and instead ask them to either find a building to barricade themselves in or leave the city. Of course, it's not like they're keeping a close watch on everyone. Those who choose to slip into Heavenly Summit Castle will find guards surrounding it, trying to stop anyone from coming in as well as keeping arrows trained on all windows in case a rebel shows her face. Stealth is the name of the game, or at least enough brute strength to knock a guard out in one blow before she sounds the alarm. Inside the castle, rebels stalk the halls of every floor, masked in the green color of the Mountain Clan. Some are heavily armored and some only wear peasants' clothes, carrying farmers' sickles; it seems as though the attack on the castle was planned very quickly, too quickly to evenly distribute armor and weapons. There are corpses left where they were killed, with splashes of bright red blood beside them; there are hostages huddled in the corners of rooms, wide-eyed but silent at the sight of foreigners ostensibly here to save them; and, in the heavily-guarded throne room, Empress Nama herself. Fight through the rebel guards with Nama's help, or find a back door and snatch her up before the rebels notice. Either way, once Ophelia lays eyes on her, the magitek will project words in front of them that only they can see: » EMPRESS NAMANama doesn't ask questions, recognizing the foreigners of Ophelia as those who were meddling after the festival attack and trusting they're here to help her escape. Longbow in hand, she leads the group through secret passageways in the castle, insisting they rescue the nobility on the way out. From there, Nama suggests stealthily escaping the castle and quickly riding out of the city to the safety of Doro's castle, unsure who she can still trust in her own empire. With Empress Nama and her surviving courtiers added to the retinue, it's time to ride back to the Flowerlands -- and hope you aren't chased by rebels along the way. ![]() It takes half a week to travel from the Empire of the Crashing Wave to Doro's castle in the Flowerlands. Youmi and two advisors ride in a carriage, with an entourage of royal guards on horseback in front and behind; those in Ophelia who choose to escort this group will either be on foot or must find a mount themselves. The journey is peaceful, allowing for time to make camp by forested hot springs and in farmhouses (in which case Ophelia might need to sleep outside, depending on the size) along the way. The Sea Clan guards are open to idle chatter with the foreigners, curiously discussing cultural differences and indulging in quick lessons in archery. Everything seems to be going smoothly until the entourage enters Flowerlands territory and is confronted by a winged spirit of the forest, angered by all the recent bloodshed in his home. There is no time to talk; the spirit does not wish to negotiate, only to stop the crew from moving any further into his territory by any means possible. ![]() Once he is finally defeated, his spell on the forest animals is broken, and even the most aggressive of them scatter. His feathers are black, but up close, seem iridescent in the light, differentiating them from a common bird's. Youmi's guards suggest everyone take a feather to prove they felled a legendary beast. GUARD ▸ FLOWERLANDS CASTLE. Until the empresses and their escorts arrive, it's very uneventful at Doro's castle. It's a smart idea to keep an eye out in case someone hears about the summit and tries to interfere, but so far, things seem to be peaceful. Take the time to bolster defenses, relieve a guildmate of guard duty, or explore the castle. ▸ THE SUMMIT Youmi and her entourage reach Doro's castle first, her royal guards immediately making a sweep of the castle and the grounds to ensure there is no danger lying in wait. Once the castle is cleared, Doro and Youmi disappear into a guarded room to begin discussions. Youmi's advisors are left out of this initial meeting, making now the perfect time to start some discussions of your own. Days later, Nama's retinue arrives, and Doro and Youmi (and the rest of her entourage) meet her at the castle gates. The two empresses step cautiously forward to meet each other, bowing politely. Moments later, Doro steps forward to gather Nama into a hug, which she gladly returns, giggling like the young girl she is. She's had a rough time, which she quickly explains to Doro, and asks if she can first have a bath and a moment to breathe. Doro and Youmi are more than willing to give it to her after hearing her experience. Doro tells Ophelia they have their run of the castle until dinner tonight, when Doro, Youmi, and Nama will all be together in the same room with the team. Sounds like the perfect time to propose a plan, so you'd better finish up discussions about what to do! There's a bit of a time limit. ▸ OOC NOTES If you have questions about this log or the overall mission, please ask them on the dossier. Questions about Futurology in general should be directed to the FAQ. ▸ Up now:

And, on that note, there's nothing inherently wrong with the Flowerlands acting as an independent nation that I can see. He seems to be on good terms with both Empresses, and just wants thing to be handled as well as possible.
So! If the Flowerlands become independent, it can trade freely between both nations, and the three nations can rule side by side, preserving their own cultures, and forming a united front, none more great than the other.

Odinson [Marvel Comics]
[There are more than enough heading out to escort the Empresses, so Odinson elects to take up gate guarding duty. With Toothgrinder stabled (to the consternation of the stablemaster), Odinson presents himself to the armsmaster of the castle and is put to work guarding the front gates. He's big and imposing, surely that'll scare off anyone thinking about making a frontal assault.
The quiet is disquieting, though. He's restless, hand on the large hammer at his side despite the clear day and quiet roads. He comments to his fellow gate guard-] They should be here by now.
[He says the same thing even after Youmi's already arrived.]
B. Ready to hear about your (great??) adventures
[The two retinues arrive at last, and each time Odinson grudgingly holds his tongue as the respective royal guard sweeps the castle.
He can't leave his post at the gate, but when he's off duty he'll join whoever's eating dinner in the kitchens to catch up:] How was the journey? I've heard you had some adventures on the way.
somewhere between a and b
Dust is the only thing that announces her arrival at first on the horizon... but soon enough the figure becomes distinguishable as centaur and not just a woman mounted, and sooner then, she is slowing down to a trot, releasing the harness across her lower chest that she holds while running to put a hand on the hilt of her blade before she comes to a stop just before the gate, sweat foaming on her flanks and panting somewhat heavily, a slight tremor of exhaustion working it's way up slim ankles.]
Odinson-
[So he was guarding the gate. A few things come to mind to say, a greeting, something personal, but in the end duty wins out. (For now.)]
Empress Nama's escort follows not a few hours behind me. It seems the road is clear, but I have come to forewarn Doro and his staff to prepare for their arrival-

Guarding is a thankless, boring job, and he'd rather be busy. However, he cares little for either empress other than basic decency, so he decided to stay behind. Too crowded.
High up on the wooden beams of the gate, he stands at the hinge were one horizontal beam meets one vertical one, leaning, arms crossed beneath his sleeves, one bare foot bent over the other. The high vantage point gives him a better view of the distance, but he probably chose it so he doesn't have to be down with all the rotating Flowerland guards.]

Hayame | Jinba | OTA
[It takes a week to traverse the Flowerlands, and though Hayame is sure she could make the journey faster... there would be little point in doing so alone. She is confident in her physical strength, but she isn't delusional. Despite the quick march, they still do have to rest sometimes... and so Hayame gathers near the fire. She isn't on watch duty, but she's still alert, refusing as she had every night they've been traveling to even lay down to sleep, crossing her arms beneath her breasts and closing her eyes...
Until a sound snaps her out of her standing doze and she starts back to full alertness, sword half drawn from its sheath before she realizes it was... probably just you.]
02 ↣ 侵入中 ↣ HEAVENLY SUMMIT RAID
[Stealth isn't something Hayame is good at- not outside of the hunt and the woods. She's too large to sneak into a building... but she's fast, and she's strong, and she's a damn good shot. So far they've managed to get in undetected, but now...
Waiting around a corner just before an exposed section of the castle wall that was being guarded by archers looking down from above, Hayame takes a slow breath, popping open the quiver at her shoulder and running the tips of her fingers over the fletching. Counting.]
Can you see how many archers are in position there?
[She counted three... but for this to work, and keep them undiscovered... she has to be sure.]
03 ↣ 疲弊 ↣ RETURN TO DORO'S CASTLE
[Hayame pushes herself on the return, gallops out ahead of the rest of Empress Nama's escort in order to both check the road for enemies and alert Doro's people of the impending arrival. By the time she clatters into the courtyard of the Flowerlands castle sweat is foaming on her flanks, both sets of lungs heaving, slim ankles quaking intermittently in exhaustion- but she sees to her duty, alerts Doro's people...
And then she trots, forcing her legs to keep moving in order to slow her hearts rates down more evenly, pausing every now and then to lean against a wall, stretching out her backlegs with a shake of hoof, curling the fore, heat fairly steaming off her hide despite the temperate weather.
Eventually, her forehead leans against the wall too, a moment of weakness, (throat dry, stomachs empty, dreading the discussions and words that would surely come next), eyes closed.]

Some of the guards're making arrows. Figured you'd know something about it.

Jason Grace | Camp Half-Blood Chronicles | OTA
[And now it's an escort mission. Jason supposed it was only a matter of time before their help was enlisted in actually getting the two ruling women to meet. He doesn't seem too bothered to be walking the whole way either. Considering their task, Jason isn't without a weapon, a golden gladius strapped to his side. He'll chat with you or ride with you if you offer him one.
Either way, he doesn't complain when they have to sleep outside either, instead doing his part to help light fires and pitch tents. Something he's clearly done before given how quickly and efficient he is at doing it. He chats with the guards during one such camp set up, working while he talks. At the moment the discussion is on festivals and traditions, though it could easily devolve into a time to share stories or jokes. It's certainly easy to relax around the camp fire. Currently, Jason is in the middle of discussing the New Roman holiday of Saturnalia.]
It's a whole week of events that sprawls from Camp Jupiter to New Rome. We string lights everywhere, exchange gifts, and have a mock election for who gets to be lord of the festival. The election is opposite our usual tradition and is only open to anyone with less than a year of service in the Legion.
[He turns to another member of the guild, even as some of the guards ask him for details about the festival.]
What about you? What's your favorite celebration back home?
II. In The Spirit of Things: Fighting/Defending Against Animals
[Jason was not at all surprised when the attack comes. True, things had been light up until now, but seeing as that pattern had never held for him before he hadn't been expecting it to start now. The bird that descends from the sky is no ordinary bird, that much is apparent immediately. Jason steps forward, thinking maybe he can reason with the spirit--being part god himself--but the mighty winged spirit flaps his wings and roars in fury at them for what they have done.
Once again, his mark as Negotiator is going to be meaningless. Jason pulls the gladius from its sheath and prepares to do battle.
Jason moves to rush the spirit as he takes to the air, but from the woods a pack of wolves rush out from among the trees. They are followed by several other creatures, all howling and growling in anger, eyes slightly glazed as if they are under the spell of something. The spirit pulls up and away, circling in the air, and Jason realizes he is going to have to wait on taking to the air himself. He shifts his attention to the animals just as all hell breaks loose.]
III. I Bring the Thunder: Fighting/Defending Against the Spirit
[Jason's breathing is hard, but he can tell he's not the only one nearing his limit. His gaze shifts up to the air. The animals on the ground will only be soothed if they can deal with the spirit. The arrows have done some damage, but Jason is determined to do something about it as well. He watches as the mighty spirit shifts in the sky and moves to dive bomb one of the Ophelia guild members.
The sword in Jason's hand shimmers and elongates, turning into a six-foot-long javelin. He hefts it up and hurls it at the bird. That alone would probably be enough to cause the bird to veer out of the way, but he doesn't just release the javelin. When it leaves his hand it crackles with electrical current and strikes like a bolt of lightning. There's a loud KA-BOOM as it strikes the bird's claws and the spirit howls in pain, flapping backwards and nearly crashing into the ground.
It's an opening and Jason rushes forward to join whoever else is willing to try fighting an over-grown bird.]
IV. Wild Card
(I'm open to other suggestions and prompts. Hit up my plotting post or message me. I'm game for various activities along the escort mission or hanging around during the summit while Jason debates who to side with in the debate.)
I
[ Majima had been sort of half-listening to Jason's story, and half simply enjoying the background crackle as hiss of the campfire. Not a lot of opportunities to camp out in downtown Sotenbori. ]
You stuff yourself with osechi and mochi, and then ya hang out watching the Red and White battle on television. Filling out all the postcards takes a while, though. Morning after, you put on some fancy clothes and go do a shrine visit or two.
No elections to speak of, though.

[It turns out that the Sea Clan’s guards are very, very good archers— with a style just different enough from his own to catch Kung Jin’s full attention during the slow march back to the Flowerlands. As soon as the camp’s stopped and broken away for friendly archery demonstrations, Jin falls right in line with the guards. He’s all too eager to join in on the practice: he can always use any honing of his own technique that he can get.
He’s easy to find, typically surrounded by a small number of guards eyeing his specialty bow with interest, or sinking arrow after arrow into the trees they’ve marked off as makeshift targets. (And yes, he’s very impressed with himself.)
Ophelia spectators receive either a wry nod of acknowledgment, or maybe even an invitation:]
I’ve got a spare bow, if you want to give it a shot.
[Youmi’s guards chatter happily, in clear agreement. They’ll peer pressure, watch out.]

[In the thick of the battle with the forest spirit, it’s complete, unfettered chaos. Jin, a Sea Clan guard with a bloodied arm, and a single member of Ophelia (das u) cover in a rocky outcropping at the mouth of an empty ogre’s den— the spirit hasn’t dive-bombed the little group just yet, but it hovers above, circling ominously.
Hopefully the archery practice was enough, because the guard’s shoving her bow into the stranger’s hands: she’s not going to be using that for a while.]
You know how to use that, right?
[Please tell him you know how to use it.]

lucina | fe:a ( sort of open )
[ The hallways in the palace are better guarded the cloesr they get to where Nama is held — what began as a tense, but relatively sparsely-guarded first floor quickly turns into a rebel at every corner. If they could even be counted as "guards" — she spends a little longer time than necessary staring at an unarmed farmer that once held a pitchfork. Her eyebrows furrow at a woman with a pot (...) on her head and a dulled sword. She grits her teeth at the young woman that looked like she held a spear for the first time today.
She finally loses her composure at their latest victim — a sickle in her hand, who had held valiantly against ( the pommel ) of Lucina's sword. ]
This is ridiculous. [ Her back up against a wall, looking down at the unconscious ( and thankfully not bleeding ) victim. Her breath comes in short pants, and she doesn't look... great, but her expression somehow looks worse. Jaw tense, eyes hard. Anger practically radiating off of her. ] These people — some of them don't know how to fight. [ Why is she so worked up??? It's a mystery. ]
2 — THE SUMMIT ( LIMIT: 3 )
[ With the adrenaline gone, exhaustion hits full force — she's bloodied and grimy by the time she reaches Doro's castle, but the point is that they've arrived in one piece. Nama is safe. For once, she'd want nothing more than to take a breather and rest for a few hours, but Lucina knows it's not that easy. No choice but to continue pressing onward, especially since time isn't on their side. ]
[ a) For those who stayed with the Sea Clan, or the Flowerlands, the relief that crosses her features is genuine, no matter how familiar she is with the teammate in question. ] It's good to see you safe. [ She watches Nama hug Doro for a moment, before turning back to her conversation partner ( and tries not to think about how her ribs ache, or something ). ] How was your journey?
[ b) For those she traveled with for the last week and a bit, her weariness is a little more apparent. Her shoulders seem much more relaxed than it had been at the castle, at least, the fight finally seeping out of her; she's chosen to lean up against palace walls, and by the time she moves there will probably be blood staining the walls forever. Rip.
But. Should someone who looks just as grimy as her approach— ] ... I admit, that had been one of our more ... harrowing times, here. [ For the lack of a better term. ]
3 — WILDCARD
( in an effort to keep my tagload manageable, i'll be limiting responses to my toplevel this time around!! if we've talked previously and you didn't manage to grab a spot, hit me up and let's work something out — thanks for understanding. )
1 I HOPE THIS IS OK....
Most of these people can’t strategize, nor can they use their weapons — frequently shitty ones, compared to those of the trained warriors who’d been invading the Flowerlands — effectively. And he is still very good at being silent. He’s beside Lucina, against a wall — a brief respite from enemy after enemy. Sometimes they offer an exploitable moment of startled stillness when he takes them by surprise and they struggle to figure out what they’re looking at. Other times their attacks are surprisingly useless, the odd superficial cut all they can pull off against this... person in some sort of partial armor whose very composition hasn’t been invented yet. ]
That’s good, right? For us. [ It doesn’t exactly feel heroic to deal with these confusing, vaguely sad people, but in terms of survival — you know, of completing the mission —
Well, Lucina doesn’t seem to be thinking ‘good’. She sounds livid, actually, and looks even more so when he turns his head in her direcgiom. ] Lucina?
simon continues to see her at her worst ( perfectly fine!! )

Sieglinde Sullivan ⚗ Kuroshitsuji ⚗ OTA
[Travel is not Sieglinde's strong suit. Traveling by foot was her weakest point, of course, but she is far more used to riding atop her familiar, not horses. Horses, by the way, are very tall when you are a short-for-your-age thirteen year old girl. A long way down, if you fall.
Which... Sieglinde seems a few seconds away from doing, nodding off as they travel through the Flowerlands even though it's still the middle of the day, eyelids heavy, spine curling as she sags in the saddle.]
02 ⚗ SEA CLAN ESCORT ⚗ ORGAN RECYCLING
[Sieglinde was not much offensive use in the battle against the forest spirit. She used spells sparingly, defensively, a shield here, a charm there, and she helped in the aftermath patching wounds... but largely, she hangs back. Something she continues to do, until the Sea clan has paid their respects to the spirit's corpse, until most people have claimed the feather the Empress recommends they take as trophy...
But after that... she considers the body fair game.
Anyone late to claim their feather or kind enough to try and round up stragglers will find Sieglinde knee deep in the spirit's corpse, her kimono hiked up about her bony knees and wearing sturdy, blood-stained pairs of boots and elbow-length gloves. At the sound of approach, she looks up from her work, standing up and revealing that in her hands is-
Is that a piece of liver?]
03 ⚗ DORO'S CASTLE ⚗ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME
[It isn't until the chaos dies down, the teams reunited, the arguments had, that Sieglinde finds herself sitting on what one of Doro's servants had called the "moon viewing platform", watching said moon rise over the Flowerlands... and counting. It was sometimes difficult to keep track of time as she knew it, the phases of the moon she was accustomed to using to calculate, but...]
Oh.
[She mumbles to herself like she's making a mental memo.]
It might be my birthday.
[... it does not quite seem an appropriate time to celebrate, however.]
04 ⚗ WILDCARD
[Plotting comment is here. If there's several replies already to one starter, or you'd like a different raid prompt, Hayame will be in the thick of things so just hit me up via comment or at
03
[ Majima had made his way to the roof for two reasons -- to enjoy the view of the moon while there was a lull in the conflict, and to have a smoke. He slipped a carton of cigarettes out of his pocket, searching for his lighter. ]

bellamy blake | ota
[ if trouble isn't going to follow him, he'll go to it. the desire to help people is intense — overwhelming and, also, an opportunity to atone for what he will never achieve atonement for. bellamy finds himself in the flowerlands, doing his best to assist in breaking up the skirmishes and finding some semblance of peace, despite knowing all too well there is no such thing a peace. ]
a. [ in the city of the sea clan, bellamy's outside of a door, trying to open the knob. ] Come on. You need to open the door. [ he doesn't bang his fist against it, nor does he try to jiggle the knob open with any semblance of strength. it's with exasperation he meets his predicament with, a familiar feeling for his own. ]
[ a little girl remains inside of the house, when he's made it very clear he needs to get her out of there. the skirmishes haven't left many people feeling safe … inspiring people may be his schtick on the ground, but with his confidence waning, he's piss poor at it. ]
b. [ when he tries to break up a skirmish, he finds himself in the thick of it. fighting hand to hand isn't bellamy's strength, which makes it a hell of a lot easier that he has a sword he has no idea how to use. he doesn't withdraw it, but he instead tries to fight hand with hand. too bad someone's coming up behind him with something a little sharper and stronger than a hand … ]
2. THE FLOWERLANDS & GUARDING THE CASTLE
[ a little downtime never hurt anyone, did it? when bellamy gets his ass to the flower lands castle, he's a little worse for wear. it must be a day that ends with y. bruised and scratched, his hair a bit mussed, he looks as tired as he feels. ]
a. [ rather than allow himself to collapse and earn the well deserved rest he should get, he decides to explore the castle. a history nerd to the end of his days, he finds himself enraptured with the high ceilings, the draperies, even the statues in place ... it's the larger spaces that capture his attention, and it's where bellamy can be caught trying to figure out how best to hold his spear. in the middle? at the top? with his less dominant hand? how the hell does he spin this thing? ]
b. [ when he isn't walking around the castle looking at it from the perspective of a kid in a candy store, he walks around the hallways with a spear in hand. it's with a determined step and a heavy, fast paced walk. ] It's secure enough here. It's the other end of the castle that needs us.
3. WILDCARD
[ seriously, feel free to wildcard me or pick at any of these prompts to make them work for you. ]
2a
[ Majima was holding one of the Sea Clan's asymmetrical bows in both hands, leaning it up against the ground off to the side of the courtyard. As he spoke, he flexed the bow, allowing the bowstring to slip free of the ring at the top. ]
Spear goes on yer right side. Hold it with your right hand further back for power, left hand further towards the tip. That's your support hand.

Hey, make room.
[ is the first, uncharitable thing he says as he tries to wedge his way into a seat at the table. ]
Oh, it's you.
[ A warm reception for Inuyasha, who Yusuke isn't totally sure how he feels about. Impressed about his power, sure, but on this team there's no straightforward way for Yusuke to square with that. What he really wants is to knock heads with him a few more times, but elbowing him over to his side of the bench will have to do for now. ]

[Is the uncharitable thing Yusuke gets back around a bowl of broth-soaked noodles.
He's fine and victorious until Yusuke tries to butt into the table when they are clearly plenty of other tables to be had.] Hey!
Stop pushing me! What's your problem?! [HE'S SPILLING HIS OODLES OF NOODLES.] Why can't you sit on the other side?!

Amado Tsukayama | OC | ota (youmi escort)
[Amado's no stranger to traveling on foot, so he goes without a mount for the escort. Initially, he's extremely wary of any ronin getting any ideas, but there's plenty of people here, both Youmi's own guards and Ophelia agents...that in and of itself should be enough to dissuade anybody's intentions violence. Hopefully. So eventually, he relaxes a bit.
Even if things are calm for the moment, though, it's not particularly long until they start seeing the collateral damage of the skirmishes between the Mountain and Sea clan. Ophelia has done what they can to try and diffuse the fights, including Amado himself, but there's still the remains of plenty of fights that went uninterrupted and it's...disquieting.
He glances at one of his fellow agents.]
Y'think the empresses will be able to put a stop to this?
[He wishes he was more confident about that than he felt at the moment.]
2) Combat
2A)
[What was that about their size being enough to dissuade violence? Guess not.
When the spirit attacks, Amado is prepared to focus on it -- when its buddies show up and all hell promptly breaks loose, he realizes he needs to change his priorities pretty quickly. Their ranged attackers (i.e. the archers) are going to be integral in bringing that spirit down...and the other animals are going to try and rip those people to shreds. So he needs to get in between them. He jumps in front of some of the Sea Clan archers and conjures a barrier to at least give them some cover while they keep firing. He looks around and quickly calls out to a fellow agent:]
Come here! We gotta keep these things off of the archers!
2B)
[The spirit's resistance to the constant ranged attacks they're draining into is is reaching past the point of absurdity but once the spirit is on the ground, there's a feeling that the momentum may have shifted.
It's still almost as dangerous on the ground, though - it's imperative they finish this quickly. He looks around. He's trying to spot a Bruiser, but frankly, he'll take anybody that can just do some real damage and hopefully put an end to this.]
Hey! If I can get you an opening, can you do some damage to that thing?!
3) Aftermath
[Finally, it ends. Amado drops to the ground in a sitting position, taxed from the shields, barriers and makeshift weapons he had to conjure during the fight. But he doesn't stay down for long. He pulls himself back up. Within a few moments, he's gone on to helping apply first aid to those hurt in the fight. Where necessary, he uses his own ability, the same one he was using to conjure barriers and weapons, on a much smaller scale, closing wounds and stemming bleeding the best he can. It won't hold forever, but it'll hopefully last until they can get better medical attention.
Eventually, he glances in a fellow agent's direction.]
Are you hurt?
4) Summit
[He's exhausted, he's beat up and he's glad to be able to get off his feet, finally. He gets cleaned up and changes into a fresh uniform. He leaves speaking to Youmi's advisers to the Negotiators and those otherwise better suited for that kind of thing.
Something's weighing on him, bigtime and it's fairly apparent from the way he keeps staring at the iridescent feather he took from the spirit's body. Eventually, he can't help but voice it.]
That spirit attacked because of all the fighting in the Flowerlands. If we don't stop this, it's only gonna get worse. The Flowerlands are gonna turn into a total bloodbath. [He runs his hand through his hair.] I really hope this accomplishes something.
5) Wwwwwwwwwildcard!
[Hit Amado up at any time during the escort mission, or if you want something specific, contact me at
no subject
[ Sure, Ophelia could beat back the unruly hordes on a temporary basis. But the business of ruling, of recovering from the increasingly destructive situation -- that was the job of Hanabiran leadership.
Majima had one of the Sea Clan's bows on his back, one of their quivers at his side. With his local dress, he might as well have been one of their number.
...except he was a head taller than pretty much all of them. ]

The battle has already started, frustratingly for him, and he comes trickling up from the direction they had been heading looking for a fight, Tessaiga unsheathed. Unfortunately, Ginko gets to also be accosted by something else besides the spirit.] Hey!
What the heck is going on?! We could hear you guys fighting all the way back at the castle! [Or, well, he could at least.] Is that a demon?
no subject
[Ginko, for his part, has Not been fighting. In fact, he tried, at first, to get the spirit's attention so he could talk to it and convince it that they weren't a threat, buuuut that went about as well as can be expected. He's lucky he hasn't already gotten eviscerated, tbh]
It seems to be angry about our presence here.

... "Marrying" the empresses. Do you think that's going to work?
[ everyone is holed up in Doro's castle for the moment after the long journey. The two androids are of similar minds when it comes to solving this problem - best left in other hands - which means they aren't terribly involved. Simon, on the other hand, definitely is. Once the largest discussions are over with, it's easy to ask him for the details. They seemed to work well enough together before. ]
Lissa brought it up before - isn't it just a type of party?
no subject
A wedding is, but that’s just, you know, the ceremony. They exchange vows to stay together, and then their empires are united... if this works, that is. I hope it does. We don’t have a whole lot of other options.
[ He doesn’t want to think about it not working. His brain is fried and now he is trying to explain marriage to androids. This plan has been all of his political brainstorming reserves for this mission. He is in full chin-in-hand (approximately), seated slouched over vegetative mode. ]

And without a job to otherwise focus on or a group like the other gems to drag them into more leisurely activities, Bortz has taken to wandering the castle like a ghost with heavier footsteps. Architecture and woodworking and interior design aren't their things, but it's all still enough of a novelty to catch even their interest, if just briefly.
But you know what steals their interest away again almost immediately? Spotting a face they'd been hoping to see for the last few days. They make a beeline over, intimidatingly intense in their directness. It's only the knowledge that humans are squishy and fragile that keeps them from grabbing Maya by the arm. They don't want to break anyone by accident.]
I've been looking for you.
[They lift a gloved hand by way of explanation, the glove's pinky finger flopping loosely without anything inside to support it.]
