SUMMARY: Catch-all for plans for this month!

[He reflects on this so casually that it belies just how unpleasant that stretch of Zeta-12 actually was. Blazing heat and a meteor shower made for an interesting journey, not to mention whatever had caused squidges to act violently]
I've got plenty of water, so you don't need to worry.
[Given his unique circumstances, Haise always overpacked basic provisions, just to be safe]

[Deserts, by virtue of their existence, are really hot. After all, it's the absence of the abundance of water, which makes it a dreary location to do anything.]
Ah, that's good then.
no subject
[Although it wasn't easy on him, Haise can safely say that he wasn't the worst off. He'd felt exhausted and was simply lucky that Haku was capable of frost breath, which kept him cooler than others.
Thinking back on it, it would help if they were better prepared for extreme environments like that...]

[She sighs, because they're so well-trained back home in comparison, with simulations in school and other affiliated establishments, but it all seems for naught here.
She realizes, however, that she's being rude and backtracks.]
Oh! Forgive me. I didn't mean to...
no subject
[Haise has, for his part, had similar sentiments regarding the lack of preparation. Especially where non-combatants or those with no survival training are concerned, the lack of preparation is alarming at the least.
It's something he would change if he could.
Spotting a cluster of small, brightly colored flowers growing out from under the edge of a rock, he tips his head in that direction before veering that way]
These look like a start.
no subject
[But okay, task at hand is important, so she goes for that immediately. This time, instead of creating them, she only pulls out a pair of gloves from her bag and a container.]
Let's go through these one by one then.
no subject
[There's something to be said for learning from firsthand experience, but likewise there's much to gain from training]
Sounds like a plan. At least plant life is easy to spot here.
[And not inclined to snatch at and grab them like on Zeta-12. He crouches near the flowers, tugging a pair of gloves from his own pack]
no subject
[Gathering it is, she's careful to keep them all in different plastic bags, once she's produced the day before, so she doesn't overdo it. Ziplocks, each one of them, as she hands some of Haise.]
Knowing whether or not they're poisonous might prove a challenge, but take extra caution nonetheless.
no subject
[Perhaps no surprise there, since ALASTAIR bounds along the timeline as needed. For his part, Haise stores his share of these samples in little vials he's been carrying around since the Zeta-12 mission]
You're right. And I'm sure Sieglinde will handle them with care as well.
no subject
[After all, he seems to be more familiar with her as a person than she is, and it would help to know what she might be like in order to do well in presenting what she needs to her.]
no subject
[It's remarkable just how much Sieglinde knows at her age, and he can only imagine what she'll be like when she's in her twenties]
I believe she has several projects at any given time, so plants would be used for medicine or experimentation.
no subject
[Something else she can work on, maybe? She's not too sure either, but it sounds intriguing to her as she starts picking some samples of the same plants and placing them in a ziplock bag.]
I should've asked her whether she wanted all the samples or simply a small pool.
no subject
[He'll pause to seek back through the logs of their interactions via their internal communications so he can send a message to her inbox with a link to the post he's referring to]
That should be it...I must say, it's still strange being able to find information with a thought. As for samples, I think anything we can get for her will be better than nothing to start with, since these plants are alien to all of us.
no subject
[She seems pleased enough with the response, even as she starts storing filled up bags into her backpack, humming softly in thanks.]
Thank you. I suppose it can't hurt to help identify things too, even if our stay is short-lived.
no subject
[And he has no problems with admitting that much, tucking vials into his pack before he rocks back on his heels to stand]
It's amazing what some worlds have in common, so we might well see similar plants elsewhere.
no subject
[And it's good in a way. If she can produce life like this, then she'd be godly, and humans weren't meant to hold such insane amounts of power.]
no subject
[With that said, he offers a hand to help her up]
no subject
[But she will take his hand gratefully with a smile.]
Thank you for that.
no subject
We're a team, after all.
[This he says as he scans their surroundings, eventually spotting some cacti a short distance away]
I can't imagine being part plant...
no subject
[She follows his lead this time, tucking the samples away in her bag.]
no subject
[It's a short trek to that cluster of cacti, short plants with broad leaves studded in spines. Once they've reached these, he crouches down to pull more small bottles from his pack]
This is the second world I've been to with cactus since I was recruited... I would've never expected them to be that common.
no subject
[She says, more contemplative than anything as she considers that.]
I suppose life, if it is allowed to thrive, would have similar ways of adapting to similar conditions. Though, a lot of these planets are very similar to Earth.
no subject
[Relative, because they still traveled for days in-between. Nevertheless, it wouldn't be possible to walk through so many climes on Earth]
I've been wondering about that... Maybe we're given these assignments because of those similar environs. It might be deemed easier for us to cope with.
no subject
[Odd as it is, but well...]
Were all planets inhabited by humanoid aliens prior to this?
no subject
[He only knows that there were hardships, and Nalawi was not the first world in which a grim solution was deemed necessary]
I'd say it's fairly accurate that we come from similar places, or many of us do.
