DATE: December 14th.
WARNINGS: this is a Gintoki log.
SUMMARY: Mostly scooter related, but some other things too: a SOL hell post.
( 1. ) SCOOTER HELL #1
[ After all the care and attention he had been given from all of these model citizens (seriously, you know who you are— and who do you think you even are anyway?), Gintoki is up and running to his healthiest. He had received once he had gotten out of jail a personal item from home and hasn't been using it except recently because he's in better condition to.
People might have seen the strange, silver "horse" as some described it, buzzing between the two divided parts of the city. Though, people in the goblin's side might catch a better glimpse of it. The horse in question is usually seen as a beacon of silver light before somebody can fully see it in the lantern lights that decorate the city.
Maybe you sent Gintoki on a task to retrieve something for you, such as an item from the market (specifically if you're on the goblin side and want something from the human side, fugitives!) or maybe he's just stopping by for a visit— you decide! It's completely up to you (remember, he's a freelancer who will do any task for money), but he stops his scooter near you. ]
Yo.
[ He's running late, for whatever it is we're doing, but you don't even get an apology. There's a sucker in his mouth and he pulls it out when he shows up— that probably wasn't safe to eat while you're driving, but w/e. ]
( 2. ) SCOOTER HELL #2
[ Maybe it's the other way around— you don't need him, he needs you! Especially if you're somebody he's had CR with. He's talked about something really important that he needs to show you and doesn't go into description about it, but he's asking you to wait outside of the inn you're staying in— human or goblin inn, it doesn't matter.
And again, here he is, pulling up in his mo-ped like he is the absolute shit. It's a bit of a nerve wrecking stop as he spins the scooter, making it come to a stop by breaking and allowing it to skid to the side. Wow, look how cool it is!Maybe he was trying to accommodate for how small he was down there.
Once he has stopped there is a long silence as the dust he stirs up has settled. He removes his helmet. ]
It's cool, isn't it?
[ yeah this..... was all he wanted to show you. You came outside for this. ]
( 3. ) OUTSKIRTS
No, this isn't what I'm looking for either. Do you have something that is like this, oi, pay attention— It's like this— [ Gintoki is having at it with a goblin vendor who is selling some articles of clothing on the streets. He's aggressively gesturing to his yukata, scooter neatly parked off to the side. ]
White and blue— where I have have one arm out. I don't want two sleeves. I want just one sleeve. Do you have just one sleeve..!?
[ he goblin seems a bit frustrated at this and pulls out another article of clothing that looks nothing like what he's wanting (which is the exact same thing he is wearing). It's just.. it's a little stained, even after Alice washed it, with blood and has a few tears in it.
Gintoki grits his teeth, beginning to lose his patience as well. The goblin pulls out what appears to be a dress next, which is indeed, white and blue— but it's a dress. ]
What the hell is that..!? WHAT KIND OF PERSON ARE YOU TAKING ME FOR..!?
[ break up this argument? watch in awe? I'm not sure, but things could get violent if you just sit back and watch. ]

( 3. )
she found the letter, of course. had puzzled and agonized over it a fair few hours, worried it was a list of grievances and upset she could not understand a letter of it so she could not even apologize properly. she thought perhaps to leave it at that, certain he would have preferred to never see her again. she had overstepped her boundaries, said something wrong, looked at him wrong, something — whatever the reason, it had been her folly, and she only wishes she could have properly apologized.
it was purely coincidence, then, that she happens upon this scene when she did. despite the warnings and her better common sense, there were times olivia dared to venture this far (no other vendor in the trades district had deals quite like the others had around this area), and she'd just finished haggling her way into an ounce of mixed spices. this she'd been stuffing into her satchel when a familiar voice cuts through the air.
she, of course, could have just turned around and walked away. instead, she makes another bad decision that day and takes a half-step closer. ]
Um. Is everything okay here...?
no subject
Gintoki looks at the vendor, a sudden change in his voice: ]
—As I was saying! What kind of person do you take me for? I'm not paying that less for something like this! This is my last offer and you're going to take it whether you want to or not!
[ He slams his money in the vendor's hands. It seemed like he was giving him a little extra and takes the dress from him.
Wow. Just what he always wanted. Not.
He looks directly at Olivia, awkwardly holding the dress. ]
Ah, Olivia-san. I am bartering with this seller. That is all.
[ 'And I just wasted so much money because of you, damn it.' ]
no subject
but all tension seems to fade (well, okay, most of the tension) the moment she sees how much money has actually been exchanged. ]
Mr. Fruit... [ her tone is low, eyes flickering between the man before her and the goblin grinning to himself several paces away.
the look on her face is quite grave. ]
You just got robbed.
no subject
Aaaah, no no. You don't understand.. this dress it's— [ He holds it up high, examining it. ]
Hand woven, with materials.. from a different planet. An entire differently planet— Planet Namek, actually.
And the lace on the bodice it's from the asshole of a rare goddess. They're goddess asshairs, don't you know that? The trim is pure gold. This was practically a steal.
[ 'How did I get stuck in this situatiiiooonn..!?' ]
Mr. Fruit knows how to buy, you don't have to worry.

Her gaze down casted, Pearl barely has time to notice the headlight of the scooter barreling towards her. She turns her head, seeing the silver transportation vehicle and takes a few steps away from its path, only to see it settle nearby.
Pawing away the rising dust, pale blue eyes rest on the driver.]
Gintoki?
no subject
Satan Clause left me another gift.
[ he is completely okay with things arriving from his world ending up here. Completely okay with that. ]
How about you?
[ look at this prideful face. ]
no subject
[Pearl shakes her head with a small groan before her head bobs curiously at the sight of the bike. Please excuse her as she takes a few steps closer, seeing her transparent reflection through the surface of the scooter]
Ah, no, I haven't had any gifts as of late.
[Besides Quartz a few weeks ago, but... Quartz was Quartz, and it was better left unsaid, at least for now.]
Did you originally have this back home?
no subject
[ He observes Pearl as she approaches the scooter, interested in her reaction. He rests his arm in the open part of his yukata, as he usually does when he is waiting around. ]
It's what I use everyday. It is something from home. Makes things better for me here. [ He gets to sit and get places quicker instead of walking. What else do you expect from a slacker? ]

Whatever the case may be, she didn't treat them any differently, finding them much more helpful than human vendors. Slowly, she accrue sewing materials -- thicker needles and threads and some food that would last a while longer, non-perishables. Though, if they were this friendly, maybe it was a good time to start consider relocating, taking what little she had (and it wasn't even that much) and relocate to the goblin side of things.
Her only regret would be the children in the Chantes, who she started to play with regularly and tell them stories about Wonderland. There were a few children in the Chantes who could sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat" pretty well.
While Alice started to consider this and even mulled over her expenses, she stopped, watching the goblin and Gintoki argue. She had no idea what the origin of the argument was, but hoped it wasn't over old feelings from the riots. Barely raising her voice, Alice cleared her throat, hoping to get their attention- ]
Excuse me. Might I ask what happened?
no subject
He's trying to sell me a dress. Oi, I'll punch your lights out so much, it'll be busted like the old sign at Tenny's.
[ A rip off of Denny's, but you know. Gintoki liked to eat there. The goblin seems, actually, apologetic and pulls out another shirt. It looks a bit classy, but it's nothing like Gintoki's style at all. ]
—It's got gold trim. I don't do anything gold. Where is the silver? Do you have a problem with silver?
no subject
What were you trying to buy?
[ Maybe it was just a misunderstanding -- she hopes so, anyway. The last thing there needs to be is a fist fight. If anything, Alice is starting to feel a little bad for the goblin vendor. ]

[Hey, if it isn't....this weirdo he never got the name of. Keats approaches, giving the whole situation a punch-worthy smirk. Ah, drama, there's nothing like being a spectator to it.]
[But even so, he's curious as to why they're arguing, so he'll put aside his smug remarks. For now.]
Honestly, what's going on, he doesn't have what you want? [He glances over at the vendor.] Are you sure you want to deal with this guy?
no subject
What, what. Did you beat that poor old man at your game?
[ He takes the item of clothes that the goblin was trying to sell— it looked similar to some kind of poncho and he examines it. He hums, then looks at the goblins, wagging a thumb at Keats. ]
Do you have any temple tips? This pair of glasses wants to change up his style it looks like.
no subject
[He's pushing up his glasses just as Gintoki makes that remark.]
Temple tips? [He lets out a snort.] I appreciate the attempt to change my appearance to your liking, but I have long hair, you know. You wouldn't be able to see them even if I did change them.

Ah, pardon the intrusion, sirs, but is there something amiss here?
[ because let's face it, ALASTAIR doesn't exactly need to draw more (bad) attention to itself at the moment. Reim would like to keep the goblins friendly as much as possible if they can! ]
no subject
Gintoki whirls his head around to look at Reim, dull red eyes not particularly interested in this newcomer. ]
The only thing amiss here is something tasteful to buy.
[ He looks at the goblin one more time: ]
Hey, one sleeve, and long, like mine.

she's still frozen in her mid-stretch when he addresses her

[ Gintoki doesn't know who this girl is— he's never seen her before. Was she somebody new or somebody he just hadn't seen from the beginning? Nevermind, it didn't matter.

But when he gets back to his scooter, he'll find a wrapped bento box on the seat of his scooter, filled with gingerbread cookies (bought - it's hard to get access to a kitchen around here without, like, going into one of the abandoned houses). There's a note pinned to the top.
"I had some left over when I bought some for someone else. I bet you have trouble getting things like this now that you've made everyone in this place angry. If I leave you alone, you're probably going to steal it off a kid. Don't go and put yourself back behind bars already for something as stupid as that. I like it better when you're not in there. Look after yourself for once, okay?"
The note is not signed. How will he ever figure out who this mysterious stranger is this may be a mystery he'll never solve
There's something written on the back.
"P.S. The next concert is on the 24th. If you're really sorry, don't miss this one. It's fine if you can't be in the crowd since you're kind of wanted by the guard, but at least listen to it, all right?"
And yes, the handwriting is not that different from the handwriting on the signs that Nico's started to put up about a concert on, yes, December 24th.
Wait, there's more at the bottom.
"P.P.S. Wash it before you return it. They don't make boxes like this around here, so I can't replace it if you lose it."
....is she trying to hide her identity or not? ]
( 2. ) scooter hell #2
they've never officially exchanged names, either.
but she owes him—for her behavior, and for his attempt to "save" her, however misguided, and then some. so rin stands outside her chosen hotel (which is coincidentally the most expensive hotel in the city), all dressed up in a cute outfit suiting the winter weather. she holds a sizable square box in her hands that's much like one a cake would be carried in, and there's yet another bundled present on top of that.
... yeah, she's scrambling to keep everything together and not smashed on the ground with the rush of his arrival.
she has to be nice.
somewhat flustered, rin responds,]
—Yes. Very cool.
[but is he talking about the moped or his technique.]
no subject
Gintoki purses his lips and puts the helmet on the handles of his scooter before standing from his seat. He secures his moped and stands by it, an arm sneaking and resting in his yukata; a signature stance of his. ]
I bet you're jealous. This means I don't have to walk everywhere.
[ fast and lazy.. perfect!
he has noticed her items but??? no idea what they are. ]
no subject
rin pastes on a happy smile, and to her credit, her eyebrow just barely twitches. she steps closer to gintoki and his moped as if she was an honored fangirl approaching g*ckt.]
Mm, I am pretty jealous! How nice! What an enviable ride. Surely you'll tell me, at least, how you managed to procure it?
