DATE: December 14th.
WARNINGS: this is a Gintoki log.
SUMMARY: Mostly scooter related, but some other things too: a SOL hell post.
( 1. ) SCOOTER HELL #1
[ After all the care and attention he had been given from all of these model citizens (seriously, you know who you are— and who do you think you even are anyway?), Gintoki is up and running to his healthiest. He had received once he had gotten out of jail a personal item from home and hasn't been using it except recently because he's in better condition to.
People might have seen the strange, silver "horse" as some described it, buzzing between the two divided parts of the city. Though, people in the goblin's side might catch a better glimpse of it. The horse in question is usually seen as a beacon of silver light before somebody can fully see it in the lantern lights that decorate the city.
Maybe you sent Gintoki on a task to retrieve something for you, such as an item from the market (specifically if you're on the goblin side and want something from the human side, fugitives!) or maybe he's just stopping by for a visit— you decide! It's completely up to you (remember, he's a freelancer who will do any task for money), but he stops his scooter near you. ]
Yo.
[ He's running late, for whatever it is we're doing, but you don't even get an apology. There's a sucker in his mouth and he pulls it out when he shows up— that probably wasn't safe to eat while you're driving, but w/e. ]
( 2. ) SCOOTER HELL #2
[ Maybe it's the other way around— you don't need him, he needs you! Especially if you're somebody he's had CR with. He's talked about something really important that he needs to show you and doesn't go into description about it, but he's asking you to wait outside of the inn you're staying in— human or goblin inn, it doesn't matter.
And again, here he is, pulling up in his mo-ped like he is the absolute shit. It's a bit of a nerve wrecking stop as he spins the scooter, making it come to a stop by breaking and allowing it to skid to the side. Wow, look how cool it is!Maybe he was trying to accommodate for how small he was down there.
Once he has stopped there is a long silence as the dust he stirs up has settled. He removes his helmet. ]
It's cool, isn't it?
[ yeah this..... was all he wanted to show you. You came outside for this. ]
( 3. ) OUTSKIRTS
No, this isn't what I'm looking for either. Do you have something that is like this, oi, pay attention— It's like this— [ Gintoki is having at it with a goblin vendor who is selling some articles of clothing on the streets. He's aggressively gesturing to his yukata, scooter neatly parked off to the side. ]
White and blue— where I have have one arm out. I don't want two sleeves. I want just one sleeve. Do you have just one sleeve..!?
[ he goblin seems a bit frustrated at this and pulls out another article of clothing that looks nothing like what he's wanting (which is the exact same thing he is wearing). It's just.. it's a little stained, even after Alice washed it, with blood and has a few tears in it.
Gintoki grits his teeth, beginning to lose his patience as well. The goblin pulls out what appears to be a dress next, which is indeed, white and blue— but it's a dress. ]
What the hell is that..!? WHAT KIND OF PERSON ARE YOU TAKING ME FOR..!?
[ break up this argument? watch in awe? I'm not sure, but things could get violent if you just sit back and watch. ]

There was the first kid that he took under his wing; only about 16 years old who lost his father and never spoke of his mother. He had an older sister, and to carry on their father's wishes, they tried to revive his dojo during a time when samurais were no longer needed. This is his apprentice.
Then the second one wiggled her way into his life; only 14 years old, she left her home planet entirely, also with no mother to speak of, but a blood thirsty, dangerous older brother she was running away from.
Despite everything, they are the reason he finds his life still worth living-- he would never admit it though.
A finger jams in his nose. ]
I have two brats that take all my money.

[She smiles, almost knowingly before she shrugs. Whatever you say, Gintoki.
Pearl returns her gaze back to the scooter and purses her lips. Hands fidgeting in front of her, she steals a glance back at Gintoki.]
Do you think I could.... you know.... [And back to the scooter goes her attention.]
no subject
—You can't drive it.
[ Gintoki quickly finishes off her sentence, even if that wasn't what she was going to say. With a vacant expression, he looks at Pearl. ]
It's like, uh, a precious ... — [ what would a rock relate to in this situation... he doesn't even know. ]
You know, it's just precious. Like the first bite of chow mein on a cold day.
[ she can't relate to this at all. He says this as he flicks whatever he picked out of his nose elsewhere. ]
no subject
N-No! I didn't mean it like that! I only know how to drive a van, not a scooter.
[She wrinkles her nose at the flicking but shakes it off.]
I was wondering if maybe I could get a ride? Just to. See what it's like.

Hop on.

She pulls the chin strap down around her small chin and walks up to the moped. Awkwardly, she lifts her leg up, to try and take a seat behind him, but only finds herself over shooting it. And thus, crumbles to the ground on the other side of the bike. She lets out a small squawk of surprise before she gathers herself together.
Another attempt and she manages to sit this time! But she looks around and...]
What do I hold onto?
no subject
Careful.
[ .. ]
Wouldn't want you hurting the bike.
[ this dick. Gintoki situates himself more comfortably on the scooter and clicks the head light on, exhaling a sigh. ]
Mmmm. Most people pick Gin-san to hold onto, but there are handles under your seat on both sides.
[ Kagura uses that sometimes cause she's a little reckless and likes to lean away from Gintoki's back. That silly child. ]

Pearl lifts her hands and looks awkwardly at Gintoki's back. Her hands flinch and hesitate. She runs her arms under his and she clasps them around his middle. With her head held high, she looks to the side, and away from any sort of eye contact Gintoki might give her. Her body is stiff and tense, and she tries her best not to touch him too much.]
no subject
Gintoki glances in the rear view mirror. ]
Hey. Hold on as tight as you need to feel better. Nothing makes me more nervous than another person being nervous.
[ he revs it up. ]
It's okay to be excited, too.
[ relax, Pearl. ]
no subject
[She protests over the rev of the bike, cheeks ballooning with a tighter frown. But the sound of the revving bike does cause her to hold on tighter.
Maybe a little tighter than necessary.
...With that Gem strength of hers.]
no subject
Gintoki sputters, and taps on his knee to emphasize. It wasn't comfortable--! ]
Oi, oi! Stop! You're going to make me fart if you keep doing that! Hey, be comfortable without being V*geta! You know, just enough so you don't fall off and bust your brain!
no subject
That's disgusting! And I don't have a brain to bust. [She purses her lips together in a thin line but she loops her arms around his middle again, this time without the super human strength.]
You just keep your eyes on the road! I'll be fine.
no subject
... Ready, then?
no subject
Ready.

Gintoki can generally be a chatty guy, but he also has a lot of thoughts going on in his head, believe it or not— where he falls into silence.
So, it takes him a moment, but he brings up: ]
This came from space. You know, like where you come from, I guess, but like in my world.. however that works.
[ ahaha small talk what is that. ]
no subject
It looks to be an earthling contraption. How on earth did this come from space?
no subject
It's, you know.. — they bring stuff a lot. All of their crap. It's annoying. [ Gintoki doesn't mind the Amanto's invasion as much as some— like Katsura— though 20 years ago, Japan was a more primitive 1800's. Since their invasion, well. It's been different. ]
They brought vending machines — too many of'em. And, uh .. — cars .. flying pirate ships. They scam us all with UFO machines..
And uh, they brought modern toilets.
Guess I can't complain too much.
no subject
They gave you flying pirate ships? [Just what.]
There had to have been some kind of catch.
no subject
[ Give it a moment— nothing but the sound of air whizzing past them. ]
In exchange, they took over our country.
Seems fair, right?
[ did he sound a bit passive aggressive? Maybe a little. He isn't too particularly bothered by it.
Not like some people he knows. ]
no subject
Didn't your country do anything to defend itself? I mean, yes, those items are nice and all, but...
[She shakes her head as she looks over his shoulder at him.]
They don't rule with an iron fist, do they?
no subject
It wasn't for them, well. A lot of important people would still be alive today.
Gintoki keeps his eyes fixated on the road ahead, expression empty.
Do they rule with an iron fist? Well. It could be a lot worse, Gintoki figures, but the fact they basically banned samurai and left him with a pointless occupation, Gin isn't sure what to say.
In any case, Gintoki didn't seem too bothered by their rule. His reason for joining the war had nothing to do with taking the country back.
It had to do with something much more important than that. ]
They do what they can to make themselves comfortable.
It's no big deal. [ To Gintoki. ]
A samurai's lifestyle lives within you and not around you.
[ He doesn't explain that they banned the sword, but maybe Pearl can piece it together and figure it out. She seems smart enough. ]
no subject
Pearl furrows her brow as she thinks back to his sword he was given back from ALASTAIR, that was supposedly taken from him by gorillas.]
And that's why they took that sword away from you, yes? I mean... It's made of wood. Is it really that effective against your rulers?
1.2
I don't have rulers.
Just myself.
So, I don't really care.
It's effective against anybody who gets in my way ..— [ A beat as he glances over his shoulder at her. ]
And it's very effective against anybody who gets in the way of my friends.
[ translated: deadly. ]
2.2
It doesn't really break.
[ False; it can break, and Gintoki has had it broken before. He ordered another off of an infomercial and requested Lake Toya be written on the hilt for sentimental reasons.
... for something that seemed so mystical, it was bizarre you could buy it over an infomercial.
The bokuto itself, was in fact made from a celestial tree. Wood, but indestructible wood. ]
You could say that if it breaks, I'd be mourning.
Mourning wood.
[ okay, he isn't really laughing or smiling, but he's amused at himself. ]
no subject
If that's the case, I would like to spar with you one day, to learn.
I have studied many sword techniques, but I haven't focused on any one type before. The way of the samurai could be interesting.
