EVENT ★ I PREDICT A RIOT
I WANNA START A FIGHT ![]() RIOTS ![]() An infected teacher went on a violent rampage at the local elementary school yesterday, leading the school board to close all Woodhurst schools for the rest of the week while the entire staff is studied for symptoms. There’s no test for the Bristol virus, however, so it’s impossible to tell for sure. This, of course, worries the parents. The unrest starts with a protest at the school, calling for schools to be closed indefinitely until the quarantine is over for the safety of the children, but it doesn’t stop there. Unrest turns to rioting before long; the majority of the riot is focused at city hall, where citizens are demanding answers, but there’s also mayhem at stores as the people of Woodhurst loot them, stocking up for what some assume is an impending apocalypse. Those who don’t believe this have locked themselves up in their homes not for protection from the infected but the rioters. Suffice it to say, most of the citizens out on the streets are of the slightly unstable variety, although some just found themselves caught up in the riots and became worked up by the crowd. Local police forces -- including ALASTAIR agents posing as police officers -- have been dispatched to deal with the rioters at city hall. Rioters who attempt to leave the city are taken care of by officers sent by the federal government to enforce the quarantine. CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE ![]() While the entirety of the police force is focused at the quarantine borders and outside city hall, now is possibly one of the only chances to get full access to buildings in the city. There are still some workers who haven’t been sent home and some of the buildings are locked up, but there are few police officers that can be spared to go check out a simple break-in. Now is the time to search the city, if you're feeling brave. If you’re really ballsy, you can even try to slip in through the back door of city hall and go through their records. The only important building in town that’s not able to be searched is the hospital, which is incredibly busy due to the high number of people injured in the riots and traffic accidents. Of course, just because rioters aren’t around doesn’t mean you’ll be left alone. There’s always a chance you’ll find yourself alone in a building with someone very hungry. Willing to take the chance? Submit all CYOA choices to this thread. OOC NOTES The Bounty Board is now open! If you are looking for ways to get involved in this mission's optional objective, this is a good place to start. We’d also like to remind everyone that ALASTAIR does not invent cover stories for characters -- that’s all them! The only jobs they’ll help with getting are in the police force and government; everything else is up to characters to interview for. Questions about Woodhurst can be submitted to this thread. Questions about the game in general should be directed to the FAQ. You may submit mission ideas or player plots at any time. |

[His regeneration keeps it from bleeding or infection, flesh sealed tight around it, it's true, but the constant pain of it remains, something cold and chafing, a dull ache that radiates from the puncture wounds and down into his bones, into the Spine, a constant source of discomfort. But for the most part it's a distant thing, something that's been with him so long that, unless he thinks about it directly, he barely notices anymore.
And the way he says it, it's blase enough. Makes it seem a matter of indifference and although perhaps that's true of the pain, it's not so for the thing itself. It means everything, defines him utterly.]
But the regeneration keeps it from becoming unbearable, I suppose. My immunities prevent any kind of infection.
no subject
But if that is the case, do you think... it is possible that you would be immune to this current threat as well?
[ Her right hand reaches up to tap her chin, brow furrowing. ]
If that is the case, it may be possible that your cells may actually help in creating the cure we've been working on trying to make. I-if you would be willing to let us test, that is.
no subject
I'm accustomed to it.
[Which is true enough, at least. He finishes reassembling his pistols, looks up at her.]
But I expect so, yes. I'm immune to all pathogens, poisons, etcetera.. At least, as far as I know.
[A small pause, and then--]
What would this testing entail on my part, exactly?
no subject
[ She lets her eyes flicker down to the guns, then up to his face. ]
It may prove to be a huge help.
no subject
If you'd like.
no subject
Then whenever you have the chance... please come into the hospital.
no subject
I'm sure I can manage that.
no subject
Thank you. [ A beat, then: ] All finished?
no subject
Yes, all done.
no subject
Then in that case, we should both get some rest, no?
[ When she stands up she almost wobbles a bit from how tired she is. At least sitting down she could hide it a little. ]
no subject
He watches as she stands, though, sees the slight faltering in her, and though it takes him a moment to realise that it's the physical signs of exhaustion showing through, he nods.]
Yes. You ought to sleep.
[he doesn't need it himself, not particularly, and the rare occasions when he does sleep are filled with such horrors that it's barely like resting at all. But he can read and relax to the best of his stunted ability.
It's something.]
no subject
Either way, her hands move to rub her eyes, and she glances back at him. ]
What about you?
no subject
Oh, I don't need much in the way of sleep. I'll be just fine.
[Well. 'Fine' is not a word that can be accurately applied to Giovanni and his turbulent mental state, but the lack of sleep isn't about to add to that. Still, there's the briefest pause, and then he adds by way of allaying her concerns--]
But I have no intention of overexerting myself, tonight. I'll be here, if you need me.
[He'll read quietly in his room, or stare silently at the ceiling for a while.]
no subject
Though thank you, I shall let you know if that is necessary.
no subject
[He repeats back her words, smiles in a way that's intended to be reassuring, though it's a slightly strange expression on him, unaccustomed to such things as he is.]
You sleep well, now.
[And he'll turn away, then. Slip his guns back into their holsters. Let her get some rest.]
