we're strong enough to let it all go
CHARACTERS: Sonia (
assent) and company
DATE: Mixed! I'll tag things accordingly inside
WARNINGS: Spoilers for Danganronpa 2 will be in some threads but I will try and mark those! Other than that there might be violence in places as she'll be on week 3 - early 6 of being infected in here. Funtimes...
SUMMARY: Using this as a means for visits and other things for February (1 backdated thing) and March. It's "open" in that I am down for wildcards + plotting for specific threads, though I don't have an OTA inside! Sonia's stuck in her house for quarantine while trying to do vaccine/cure things jazz hands

JESPER: backdated to February... 12th??? 13th???
When she's by the apartment block, she gives him a text message to let him know she's there and just waits for him to come down. ]
Outside.
handwaves @ dates W/E
be right down
[ Jesper shoots a quick word to Kaz and makes his way downstairs. He's not exactly expecting a car, but it's not like there's a ton of people out in the street nowadays. He spots Sonia and waves her down, stepping up to the car and trying the handle, almost like he's not sure it'll work.... Cars are New, ok. ]
Nice ride! You buy this thing yourself?
yolos!!!!
Ah... it was a gift, actually. [ She leans over to push it open for him when he seems unsure, not bothered by the fact that he's less used to this than she is. ] Giorno and Fugo gave it to me the first week here. I have not had many chances to use it, so I thought it might be a good idea for this.
[ Now, in you hop, Jesper!! ]

REIKA & JULIUS: backdated to ... early march????
If you like, I can wait at the door while you check if he would be alright with the company?
[ Even as tired as she is, with the infection impacting her own hunger she's still well enough to keep her manners for now. ]
sits in here
It should be okay. Thanks for coming all this way, really.
[ Given how the two of them keep in contact almost all the time, it's not hard to slip in a message asking Julius of the plans. He's fortunately well enough to agree, so it should be okay. ]
We can go in.
uwu!!!
You really do not need to thank me. I owe him enough anyway, so this is no trouble at all. Besides, I am quite worried.
[ As it's Reika's place though, she'll wait for her to go inside before following. ]

WYLAN: March 9th/10th
It's just difficult to get equipment from the hospital to her house without people making complaints and trying to do it with very little help hasn't made it any easier. She struggles out of the elevator, pushing what looks like a two wheeled trolley with boxes on it, and ends up having to twist around and try and drag it out instead.
Whether Wylan is going home or just leaving he'll hear her frustrated sigh from the hall anyway. She's too quick to anger now that the wheel getting stuck in the gap is enough to set her off. ]
Come on you motherf--
[ Well then. ]

He's relieved but more than a little confused to find her struggling to push an overfull trolley through the door. He steps up beside her, one hand on the trolley and the other steadying the stack of boxes.]

GIOVANNI - may come with danganronpa spoilers!
Probably for the best, however, as by what feels like the end of week 3 (though she can't work out how that's possible, yet at the same time they already have proof that symptoms present themselves quicker for some than others) she's already flipped over her chair and kicked her papers in frustration. She's tried to rip up some of her sheets, screamed into them because why can't they figure this out?
It's only during moments of calm, when she's taken some of the oxytocin she brought back with her, that she ventures out of her room.
Today, she brings the hello kitty camera with her, knocking on Giovanni's door to see if she can come in. ]

He barely knows how to look after himself.
But she asks, and he agrees, if only because the look on her face had said it was important, and perhaps he tells himself he acquiesces only to make life easier on himself, to avoid her hassling him further. But that isn't quite accurate. Not really. There's a creeping feeling in him that he isn't quite sure how to name, something unsettling, sometimes like a warmth that spreads through his chest when she's around, or like a fist pulling tight and cold at his insides when he hears her muffled screams of frustration, the pacing, the increasing desperation he can almost taste in the air.
Feelings like these-- he doesn't know what to do with them.
Whatever the case, he takes the hamsters, keeps them safely out of the way. Manages not to kill them, himself. And when she knocks on his door today they may or may not be crawling overaround him on the bed whilst he reclines there, reading. Without entering, it's hard to say.
He barely glances at the door before calling out, distracted almost, engrossed in his book--]

ARIMA - may come with danganronpa spoilers!
She's scared of herself, more than anything else.
Arima, at least, is someone she can trust to hold her back should something go wrong -- the bigger problem is more that he doesn't know why outside of the virus itself. Even before she'd been infected she'd lashed out, mind shutting down as survival kicked in and Haise had had to stop her.
The good thing, however, is that she hasn't reached that kind of stage yet, but between hunger and the frustration with the cure she isn't the most pleasant company now. She'll have already set up drinks for when Arima arrives, and her own room is closed off to hide the mess she's made in there. ]
no subject
Still he's silent as he knocks on the door to Sonia's apartment, one arm cradling a shopping bag filled to the brim with precooked meals and other needed supplies, courtesy of Haise. Arima didn't trust his cooking enough to really contribute all that much, but he at least got some of the supplies. ]

PETER
Her own apartment, however, doesn't have much in terms of equipment. She's borrowed a microscope from the hospital, along with glass dishes, test tubes, syringes, oxytocin and sedatives along with various acids, proteins etc. She's able to conduct some tests, yes, but it's still pretty limited and she's mostly working on the floor at this point.
Before he arrives, she moves everything to the living room to set it up on the coffee table. Giovanni isn't home at the moment, but given how she's quick to anger lately she's given herself an injection of oxytocin to ensure no arguments spark during the visit. When he does arrive, she opens the door with a tired smile. ]
I am sorry for keeping you waiting, please, come in.

That was what, thirty seconds? Not even I'm that impatient.
( though lately, it can certainly feel that way. his fingers even drum around the handle of the case, nervous energy he still doesn't know much what to do with. that doesn't necessarily mean much, though... he's always got nervous energy to spare. )
You good? Can I come in? ( his eyes flit beyond her shoulder, trying to guess whether she has company. he'd probably be able to hear them before he sees them, though. )

WILDCARD...?
(...And then there's the matter of infection...)
After a brief exchange of messages Aqua shows up at the appointed time, taking just a small moment to quiet her overwhelming concern for her friend, before she firmly presses the doorbell button. ]
♥
She takes oxytocin before Aqua arrives just in case, giving the other girl a tired smile once she opens the door. ]
Aqua, it is good to see you again. Please, come on in.
[ The living room is fairly plain, but at least it is tidy. Her own room has become a warzone this past week, so she's kept the door firmly shut when visitors are over. ]

JK MOVES IT HERE
and thus she arrives at the young woman's apartment with a small burden in her hands in tow, knocking gently on the wood. she does not know what to expect, but she already expects the worse.
considering the way this team tends to operate, she supposes that's just par for the course. ]

She's even more tentative when she peeks into the spy hole, but when she sees Olivia standing on the other side she's quick to ensure her door is closed and that she looks presentable enough. There's a quick call of "one moment" so the other knows she won't be long, but it takes another minute or two before she opens the door, a tired smile on her face. ]
Olivia, I did not realise you were coming. [ Not even make up can really hide the signs of the virus anymore though, with the way her eyes are dark underneath shows through even the concealer, and the changes in her veins as well. It's gross. Everything is gross. ]

NAMI
In the end, if they don't get a cure, she might even be de... best not to think of that, actually.
Whenever Nami does have everything, she tells her to drop by. She had plenty of cash spare from the cat bounty which means it's easy enough to give her money up front and the dress need not be too expensive anyway. It might not matter in the end, it's hard to say what the future brings.
She cooks something for dinner around when Nami should be dropping by too, careful to not taste test with the same cutlery so Nami won't get infected too. She intends to use this as a moment to take a break while she can't concentrate on anything but eating anyway. ]
HAISE | cw: self harm/drug abuse???
They leave her sluggish though, more than not sleeping at all does. They're a rarity, on the fourth day usually when her eyes can't keep open and the world seems to blur when the flashbacks hit.
Living through that too, is making the anger worse. Her room was already tipped upside down around a week ago during an angry outburst but by now very little is in one piece. Her bed is probably the only thing left standing, but even the mattress has been punched and clawed at in attempts to scream out the hunger she can't seem to quench for long periods. There was one time she woke up on her bed, pillow busted with feathers all over the place as well, no memory of getting there as she lost herself in another fit.
Today, it feels worse. Hunger claws at her insides and she's already eaten two or three times in the past two hours and she can't bring herself to do it anymore. Something is starting to nag in her, that she needs something fresher and rawer like the cooked food people bring isn't enough.
Yet, it's the fight in her, the fear of going too far again and of losing her mind completely, that has her using the handcuffs she got from ALASTAIR to chain herself to her bed. It's uncomfortable as hell, especially with her knees bent on the floor (but if she lets them go numb, she can't get up and that is fine) and her face buried into the mattress, but it keeps her in place as her wrists pull at the leather and fur and tug.
Her mentality is slipping, and it's at this point she'd reach for the oxytocin but there isn't any left now... not after so many days of overuse. Instead, she just screams and cries into the fabric in front of her, bites into it to save her arms this time.
They've already been bitten and injected into enough, though the long sleeves she's wearing cover that right now.
She's terrified because she can't keep her thoughts together enough to work anymore. They don't have the manpower to deal with this. Peter wasn't picking up for 2 days then Stiles had told her that he'd been infected after all and had gone somewhere and that's a worry. On top of that, her own infection doesn't add up with the dates. It's happening way too quickly. She should still be only on week 3 or 4 but the symptoms line up more with someone on week 5 or 6.
It's reaching a point where she just wishes it would end, one way or another. ]

They'd seen something he both was and wasn't. They'd seen Kaneki.
Sonia's circumstances aren't quite the same, but it's enough to grasp why she might not want to be seen. When one had built a life around maintaining an image, there was a sharp personal shame that came with failing to uphold it, no matter how far out of one's control it truly was. With that in mind, he'd been patient. The more distant she grew the more he reminded himself he knew the feeling too well.
Both what it was to lose control of oneself and that gnawing, consuming hunger were far from unfamiliar to a half-ghoul with identity issues. Keenly aware of what it's like, Haise only wishes that Sonia were never left to experience anything similar. All he can do for her is hope for a cure. Hope and bring her meat, because that's what she needs. He's only grateful that her body hasn't come to need the very specific varieties that his own does, because he can imagine too easily the burden that might place on her.
His routine delivery of such meals has eventually been met with silence. He leaves the food there, but he doesn't get responses from her anymore. It worries him, but so long as Giovanni is around, he holds out hope that she'll be alright. The other man's senses are sharp enough that he'd be able to respond swiftly if something went very wrong, not to mention quick reflexes.
Still, his unease continues to mount each time he brings a meal.
And on this day, when Haise sets down a bag in front of her door, he lingers there. He knows she isn't going to answer if he says anything, and it worries him. The distance nags at him, and he wonders if that's how she felt the day of the riots when he wasn't sure what he should and shouldn't tell her. Here and now, he wonders if it's really okay for him to leave when she's cloistered herself off from the world.
Not many people know what it's like to contend with the hollow, gnawing feeling of what is ostensibly an unnatural sort of hunger, but he does. Maybe that point of relation would be of no comfort at all, but...]
...Sonia?

YELLO
in his haste to take it and stuff it in his pocket, he fumbles with the device, seeing it suddenly flash messages received yet unread... he doesn't listen, but the username is one he recognizes all too well. he can guess why she'd be trying to contact him with such urgency — briefly, he wants to laugh. had he been willingly blind to the glaring similarities between the two of them, the way they acted about all this, too?
(probably. turns out he was willingly blinding himself to a lot of things.)
it's later in the day when he finally makes it to Sonia's apartment, knocking on the door and calling out, ]
Sonia? It's Stiles. Please open the door, I've got to talk to you.
[ please... please be there, he doesn't say, because he can't even entertain the notion that she, too, has succumbed to the virus. she can't. she can't. ]
gets tissues ready
It only lasts for two more days, but it was better than nothing.
The only person she is refusing to see is Haise, but that isn't something she can bring up with anyone but Sieglinde, and she thinks that Haise will understand the reasons behind it anyway.
When she hears Stiles' voice through the door though, she's sluggish in her response after waking up only thirty minutes before. Her body feels heavy as she makes it to the door, but it's the only way she gets rest now. ]
...Stiles? [ Her voice is soft so he probably can't hear it, but she's moving to the door and opening it soon after, revealing that she's definitely home and still in her pyjamas. Her hair is down too, trailing down to her ankles though it's definitely tangled in places and she looks like hell really. Thankfully, the fact that her table is set up with an experiment right now shows that he didn't wake her. ]
What is it?
[ It's his tone of voice that makes her step back with little hesitation, though she probably should consider her own lack of control as well by now honestly. ]

roughly mid-march. hope this is still ok! lmk if you want anything changed.
[There are a lot of people he hasn't heard from. Admittedly, he's been--busy. Both real-busy and fake-busy, because in some ways he would prefer to just not. Care. He can feel himself caring, and Kaz really does have a point about that.]
[But Sonia reminds him of home in some inexplicable ways. She shouldn't be here. And he isn't the sort of naive person to think that anyone deserves protection, because that would require the assumption that the universe gives a shit about justice. But he would like to protect Sonia, if protection is something she feels she wants or needs.]
[Too much silence and he can't take it anymore. Out of the blue, he shoots her a text, then spends the interim time until she responds . . . checking his tek every two minutes.]
Sonia, I need your advice on something. It won't take long, but I'd like to speak about it in person. Where can I find you?
[He doesn't need advice. He just wants to find her. He doesn't think twice about the fact that he doesn't think twice about lying.]
aye o/ this is fine!
If anything though, she would argue that this was justice. She deserved this struggle, deserved the pain the virus brought. Deserved to have problems with concentrating to make things better.
Who was she kidding about that, anyway?
She's a little delayed with the text, if only because she had been working when it came through. ]
