WELCOME TO LERAMZEN

After nearly three weeks of "relaxation" in Oska, Audentes is given 48 hours to prepare for their next mission. Right on time, they are rifted to a different dimension, landing them in the futuristic city of Leramzen.

Instead of appearing in a large group, recruits are spread throughout the city center so as not to draw attention to themselves, arriving in isolated areas: behind buildings hidden from the street, in public restrooms, stepping into the street from behind parked cars. The key is to blend in, though the metropolitan nature of Leramzen allows for some wiggle room; the locals see enough country bumpkins from all over the galaxy that they're willing to overlook a faux pas here or there from an obvious tourist.

Recruits have two weeks before the day of the museum heist. During this time, they should contact their mission analyst, George, but the rest is up to them -- a perfect time to explore the luxuries that Leramzen has to offer.

CITY LIFE

Leramzen is a highly cultured city, with many museums and theatres, including its prized Lyushny Theatre which homes the galaxy famous Lyushny Ballet. While the natives of this planet are human, recruits will see a wide variety of other life forms in Leramzen, some humanoid and some most definitely not. Try not to stare!

The generous stipend will more than allow recruits to take in the sights and treat themselves to a luxury meal or two, but of particular interest should be the clothing and jewelry stores found in the city center. There are shops that cater to any style and taste, including a few bespoke tailors that have a convenient turnaround time of two weeks.

In addition to shopping and cultural pursuits, there is an ice rink in the city center, maintained for the long winter season, and horse-drawn carriages that will take passengers on a ride through Leramzen's historic Old Town.

This is also a good chance to observe the State History Museum to get a lay of the land before the mission begins. But remember -- don't draw attention to yourselves, so going in all together might not be a good idea.

Settle in and take in some sights, and get ready -- because when the mission begins, you never know what you'll be in for.

Oh! Good! By the Gods, I was wondering if we'd have to wander forever! [And he almost, almost picks up the pace before...stopping and saying-] Just between you and me- [And here his voice dips a little.] A lot of this is new to me.

"Wow, you don't have to empty out the pot after you go and if you use a lever it takes care of business! What science is this!"

...new. But he's not going to mention that part.]

[ Well, she's from a post-apocalyptic wasteland, so she'll also lower her voice conspiratorially. ]

Actually, me too. We can be confused together.

[ She's only had map training skills because of combat, so uh. ]

D'you have your magitek? There's a map of it there. Seems like the tech stuff is down the street in front of us.

[SENSEI (or whatever the closest equivalent thereof they'll eventually be using) IS THE SAME AS HIM. This is a mind-boggling moment which causes him to stop for a second before he hurries to just move.]

Y-yeah, I do. [And he nearly, nearly pulls it up, but he remembers the last few times he tried to use a staff and it didn't end well, which doesn't mean he'll give up, just that he doesn't feel like finding a keychain that makes noise is the best moment in which to test it out.] So we head there, first. And then if that fails we can venture forth...more. The quest will be perilous, but the rewards great.

[ They're both country bumpkins in a glitzy land. Nothing shameful about that. ]

Yes. What we seek is here somewhere, we just gotta be thorough.

[ She'll tug on Owain's sleeve if he gawks too much, gently herding him towards one of the souvenir shops. Maybe the beeper is inside there? ]

[And that is when he got sidetracked by-]

[Sound systems, because electronics. Because music. And he's going to take a moment to admire the speakers before...deflating.] You know when you really want to get something for someone but then remember there's no good way of getting it to them?

[Yeah.

[ What's blasting out of them is probably cosmic pop. It has a catchy beat. ]

[ She'll pat him on the shoulder. ]

Maybe we can get some for our friends here?

Yeah... [Now, he knows Reika and likes her, but he doesn't know know her, in the way that would get him to open up and just say what's bothering him - his hopes, his dreams, and so on. Or to put it another way, this is starting to veer into 'it's personal' territory.]

I've been thinking about getting something for my cousin. Lucina? In...uh...case we end up doing two different things again and I don't see her...again. Not one of these, but...

[Something. And this is the closest he can get to telling someone about what's bothering him about her.]

[ Reika likes Owain. He has a level of earnestness that reminds her of a friend back home, but more importantly there's quite a bit in common between them. Both younger, caring, and to some extent unsure of what they should be doing.

Making friends is give and take, after all. ]

I have an older brother. His name is Shinji. He's quiet, but also very caring. When our home was attacked by monsters, he went to protect me. I've never seen him since.

[ He's alive, but... it's been years. She isn't even sure if he's in comparable condition to herself, but she has to believe. ]

When I first came to Oska, I didn't really know what to do. But I got to know some new people here. Have you met Sakura? She's a little girl. When I first met her, I thought about what Shinji would do. Since she's very young, I tried to be like my older brother to take care of her. Now I feel a bit less lonely if I get to see her around.

[ She hopes this makes sense. ]

I've met Lucina before too. She's very honest and kind. Since we get to see her now, I was thinking that maybe we can do stuff for her, and our new friends. While we're still together. Make good memories that we can always look back on, that sort of thing.
